How can one stay anonymous while online? It's a simple question, but trying to find the answer has led me down a real rabbit hole. Could someone give me the redpill on protecting my identity when online?

I don't need to protect myself against nation-state actors or alphabet agencies, but it would be nice to know how to do that for giggles and shit.

One resource that I found was this video by TheGrugq. It looks good to me - but I am curious to see what others think of it.

For facebook algorithms level: another fingerprint (for example live usb system) + another IP (proxy)

use tor and don't give out any identifying information.

change your browser fingerprint randomly to something common, and also use a new tor circuit when you change your browser fingerprint.

access websites only through https to reduce the likelihood of isp's or network admins finding out what you're doing.

Noob question - how do you change the browser fingerprint?

And what are your thoughts on VPNs? I think they have their uses, but I know that no VPN operator is going to risk a jail sentence for anything their clients do. i.e. If the police subpoena them, you are screwed IMO.

Use Tor on Tor Browser.

I've come to the realization that you can't...at least for anything important. Okay, you can bypass a ban on a forum (maybe) - but so what? You can't do banking or anything like that anonymously. This is a social, not technological problem...Even something simple like hosting is hard to find.

Run a hidden service or eepsite on home computer, problems weren't.

Never use the same username (or email if it's public) on different sites
