When did your Android device last receive an official patch?

Whenever the Indian guy pushes out a new weekly. God bless XDA

I always wondered why there were so many indians on XDA. Did those Java gurus actually teach them something?

 No.928206>>928227 >>928427

Too bad there aren't any regulations either forcing carriers to update their locked systems or to allow people to upgrade to stock without some penalty.

Because phones are nigger technology

>>928206

Shut the fuck up. They will comply to the regulation by releasing a patch where the vuln is still present on Mondays.

2016. I've had to turn off everything (Bluetooth, WiFi) and basically use it only for phone calls to keep every script kiddie on Earth from being able to instapwn it. I'll be installing LineageOS soon.

 No.928418

>>928205

The work is done by developers of Lineage OS. People on XDA simply compile it with binary blobs for a specific device.

 No.928421>>928424

> Own a device not supported by LineageOS

What do? Hope someone in the world has the same device and happens to port LineageOS to it?

 No.928424>>928443

Be the change you want to see in the world. Port it yourself.

On a budget Moto E from 2014.

This. The millions they spend in lobbying and shilling lolbertism is cheaper than not enslaving the consumer though. They would never chose removing the lock. Even companies that used to let you unlock the bootloader like huawei we are stopping and safetynet is getting stronger.

I think I would have a higher chance of building a house than porting an OS. Any reading you can recommend?

>update to LineageOS 7.1 because phone hasn't had security update for almost a year, even though battery hasn't exploded

>"messaging" SMS program crashes upon opening

>alternatives crash upon opening

This is those gosh darn proprietary blobs messing up again, aintit.

Both Linus and Theo warned us.

How is it so easy?

 No.929356

>>928454

Linus didn't warn us. He knowingly refused to upgrade to the GPL3 precisely because he thought his employers were entitled to this kind of abuse. Theo might technically be tolerant of proprietary blobs, but it doesn't transgress the spirit of free software according to his interpretation. Between the two, ironically, Theo is much more aligned with free software than Linus.
