What the article fails to mention is the far higher power consumption of the RISC-V processor since its 28nm vs the 16nm of the TX2. The one fucking thing that anyone would ever want a low power processor for is its power consumption characteristics and this chip being made on the ancient 28nm is a fucking joke when companies like MOSIS provide 14nm services.
Them cheaping out on the process helps to illustrate the fact that SiFive isn't actually about delivering a libre chip for security minded individuals and instead just wants to make something to show their IP is real so that people will be willing to license it.
