It was a database of DR measurements of music which some of you probably knew.
http://dr.loudness-war.info/
Now, out of a sudden it changed the design to shitty "modern" "flat" design, and it's shilling (and supporting) a different algorithm for DR measurement which is implemented only in a proprietary tool infested with DRM (which, supposedly, also screws "legitimate customers" as I saw from a quick web search) and the actual algorithm is nowhere to be found.
(On contrary, the previous algorithm was partially available as a PDF file and, with exception of some small errors, it was possible to guess the correct procedure and implement it in a few FOSS tools like https://github.com/magicgoose/simple_dr_meter)
What was the reason for a change?
Is a metric any good if it's not possible to independently implement the algorithm? (And thus not possible to understand what does it actually measure)
Does anyone know what does this "new and improved measuring algorithm" actually do?
