Does /tech/ have any paid email service recommendations if one wishes to break away from the corporate data mining bullshit or is rolling your own server pretty much the only way to go now?

rollout your own or you have a few options:
>Zoho (no pop3/imap on free tier accounts)
>Yandex (up to 1K accounts, pop3/imap available)
I am testing Yandex right now using a free promo domain I got from home.pl

I use Mailbox, used Posteo and Neomailbox (practically dead), also tried Kolab but it wasn't as good. I still don't trust Germany so if it was for me I'd prefer to run my own email server. I don't know of any good and cheap email providers in Switzerland and Iceland, which are the safest.

Appreciate the feedback so far...I stumbled across Posteo but yes, hosted in Germany and not sure how I feel about that. Protonmail is another big name but very mixed reviews from what I've seen so far.

>hurr durr if I pay them they wont spy on me
just encrypt lol
protonmeme is a non-internet service. it requires phone/donation to sign up. also i hope you're not relying on it to do encryption for you

protonmail makes you pay for imap. they also canceled some guy's account a while back because some le ebil nazi it's okay to be white poster had a 1488@protonmail.com address on it and sjw's bitched.
this raised suspicious that protonmail can infact read your email, or they'll cancel your email account purely because people bitch about it.

So you send emails to it by carrier pigeon? On USB drives that you FedEx to Switzerland?
You're an idiot.

Register a domain and point it to mailinator. If you pay you can protect the mailbox, otherwise use random to maintain anonymity
