Why are there no ongoing open printer projects?

There was like one guy in 2011 who was basically building a carriage around proprietary printer heads, but other than him I can't find anything.

>Why are there no ongoing open printer projects?

I already studied the problem and it's impossible because of the sheer amount of patents that exist on this subject, Xerox, HP and other motherfuckers have a monopoly on it and the last people who tried to make something where utterly fucked.

I don't want to say it's fucked but only very small and obscure people can do this without being detected by the others. Xerox and HP are extremely aggressive to any new company who claims that their products last longer and print more.

Printers are the most poozed part of computer science if you want to see the future that you'll get in a few years just look how many DRMs the bigger printers have.

We will have to rely on 3D printers to achieve somewhat of free/libre printer in the future.

I warn you but 3d printer for paper printing is not a viable solution if you want to understand why please read:

Is it possible to do it with some level of plausible deniability and security such that federal patent law does not apply or would be difficult to enforce?

Give an example or this claim won't resonate. We can build simpler printers like before the patents, just to higher quality level.

 No.902144

Open source printing isn't done because of the sheer effort required to produce the printer nozzles which must simultaneously be incredibly tiny and heated up to produce the right flow of ink. Patents suck dick there are over a dozen knock-off brands who made printers who no doubt did not sub-license half the shit

 No.903246

open source shits / gnu are only good for creating yet another text editor
