>free software is communism

>open source is communism

>intellectual property is enforced by the government

>governments around the world add more restrictions regarding user freedom and do nothing but try to constrain people when doing code(see North Korea os)

How come communists try to appropriate free software and open source philosophy when they are actually the opposite? Are they that clueless about what they defend or are they just trying to pull as many retards as possible on, even if by lies and deceit? I mean, of course (((the ones behind communism))) are trying to do just that so that they can rule over, but even the would be retarded drone underclass are sinking that low? How come so many people seem to believe that there is a correlation between free software/open source and communism?

This shit is so retarded.

Even big time retards like Stallman seem to fall for this.

Free software can benefit everyone, without artificial scarcity induced by sharing restrictions or artificial limitations on use and modification. It gives maximal communal benefit instead of focusing on private benefit. That's the sort of thing communists like, I think.

There are also libertarian arguments for free software. I don't remember them right now, but Eric Raymond probably has essays about it on his website or something. Do keep in mind that removing intellectual property law is not enough to make all software free software - you need access to the source code for that.

It's not in principle impossible for communism and libertarianism to both approve of the same thing for different reasons.

Stallman doesn't like communism and objects to people calling free software communist.

again, free software is libertarian, it's the proprietary shit thats communism, I don't know where propriecucks even got that argument

>spying, home phoning

check'd

>do something the party (the company) doesn't want you to do and you can end up in jail (i.e. reverse engineering wangblows)

checky

>propaganda about how your shithole is the best thanks to the party

check (winfows wallpapers, booting animations, etc.)

and many others tbh

There is no correlation between free software as described by the FSF and communism, despite what some people believe. While it's no secret that Stallman himself has clearly leftist political views in general, that doesn't mean the concept of free software is "leftist" as well.

However, at least from what I've seen, "communists" aren't the ones trying to "appropriate" the term by making it communism, it's often done by opponents of free software trying to discredit it, sometimes in bad faith, but usually out of the common misunderstanding that it's about money, when it's not.

At the end of the day, the goal of free software is allowing people to have more control over their technological property.

FYI, Stallman is one of (((them))).

Communism forces people to participate. FOSS encourages it.

>FYI, Stallman is one of (((them))).

Stallman has said that he is "an atheist of Jewish ancestry" and often wears a button that reads "Impeach God". - From Stallman's (((wikipedia))) page.

Open/free/libre/etc software is communist in the same respect that Star Trek is communist: Copying and transmitting data haw haw is post-scarcity.

Communism, capitalism, etc., are economic systems, i.e.: schemes for dealing with scarcity. Data is not subject to scarcity, and as such is not subject to economics.

>muh Marxism-Stallmanism

Stallman is indeed a leftist, but he is more than aware of the fallacy you're complaining about, and has turned such complaints on their head to highlight their illogic.
