First, they tried teaching coding at schools to drop the value of the profession and increase the supply of workers.
It didn't work, people hate coding, it's a retarded profession and no one wants to spend a day, every day, every year throwing their life way writing meaningless shit that will be erased/abandoned/obsolete/ soon after.
Second, they tried to increase the supply of workers artificially by hiring immigrants, thus lowering the wages.
It didn't work, as these people are just as unqualified as they're stupid. But they're not completely stupid, and they know coding is degrading, so they aim to form cliques in technology companies to higher their hierarchy inside.
Thirdly, tech companies saw that, with birth rates plummeting everywhere in the intelligent world, even if importing workers, they wouldn't have enough supply to have their so-dreamed cheap workforce. So they created Artificial Intelligence.
It didn't and won't work because AI only operates within the reality coders programmed it to exist, and anything new won't be done if not for feeding it with every single lit bit of data about said subject and then letting it rogue. Of course, this won't happen due to lack of data and lack of time and power (end of moore's law, demographic shifts).
So in the end, technology pushed for self defeat, and the Amish will inherit this earth.
