Are you ready for them to rape Thrawn?

 No.85

As long as it's artistically done.

I don't care for how they rendered his eyes.

This is a featured item on wookieepedia's front page.

Even wookieepedia, which used to be infamous for it's enormous fan community with an autistic attention to detail, now has to advertise Star Wars lore for people who know nothing about Star Wars articles because Disney's new "fandom" didn't care about the franchise until two years ago.

I wonder if this portrayal will be true to the original character or whether it will simply be Thrawn for people who know nothing about Thrawn; another menacing yet incompetent oaf for the rebel super teens to make a fool of. The eyes being completely wrong are certainly a bad omen.

 No.92

depends on how much you believe they're letting zahn do what he wants or have control over how they use the character.

Actually it does some sense since chiss are supposed to be near-humans, not near-duros or nemodians, without irises.

That's the worst part of this Disneyfication of Star Wars. Disney decanonizing the EU and then just rehashing bits of it for nostalgia pandering and just making shit overall I could live with. I can always go back to old books, comics and games but the moment Star Wars is brought up anywhere and you have a legion of water-headed fuckwits who all stand up and pretend they've been big Star Wars fans since forever yet never saw a single film before episode VII and they're twice or three times your age. It's fucking cancerous in every hobby when there's posers who pretend to be fans of something just to fit in and the bare minimum requirement of something like Star Wars is to just go to the store/library and pick up a DVD of any Star Wars movie and the invalids can't even be bothered to do it.

It is almost certain that they'll kill him off here or in a side novel set around the same period. Despite planning Thrawn's inclusion in canon a year or more in advance of the reveal, they didn't even bother referencing him being involved in the Battle of Jakku (which is Disney's big final conflict between the empire and the new republic followed by decades of peace). They stuck in some no-name admiral with a random super star destroyer instead, and that was supposed to be the last stand of the empire.

There's barely even a couple of years between Endor and Jakku so he simply doesn't have the time or opportunity to do anything close to what he achieved in the EU. And that pretty much says it all doesn't it.

As a side note, Zahn's new Thrawn book is set before his appearance in Rebels, so I have a funny feeling he might get killed off before the Original Trilogy happens to help explain why he doesn't leave a mark on the galaxy and why the empire gets completely fucked after Return of the Jedi in this timeline.

thrawn will almost certainly be killed before the end of rebels, or discharged from service and sent to the spice mines of kessel or something to that extent.

also >>114 , they didn't just throw down any no-name admiral, they used the fucking rule 63 pellaeon black woman. she dies in the farce awakens on not-coruscant. another thing to note is that there's only one year between endor and jakku.

Are Star Wars Rebels even worth watching? I've seen Clone Wars and it wasn't that bad (well, it wasn't great either, but I wasn't expecting much) but never got down to watching Rebels.

Tbh Ahsoka's sweet ass was a huge part of the charm.

 No.130>>132 >>220

>>129

It isn't. It drowns in pointless filler and the few times it focuses on a plot it's done with completely unlikable characters and the plots make no sense so they bring back fan favorites like Ahsoka, Hondo, Darth Maul, and Vader just to distract people from how godawful the show is.

Here's a character's arc spanning 2 seasons that shows how bad it gets

>Concept Art Wookie voiced by Steve Blum

>Uses a beating stick that transforms into a laser shooting SKS

>His race was shoah'd by the Imperials using disruptor weapons (3 warcrimes in one and that's sad and shit)

>One of the group's rivals has their ceremonial beating stick that transforms into space SKS and that makes him go into a rage

>His arc is mostly forgotten until midway into season 2

>He gets stranded on Geonosis' moon with the aforementioned rival where they do…nothing at all

>No really, he just forgets his beef with an enemy using his kind's ancestral weapon

>Then his arc concludes by finding a few others of his race and his beating stick/Space SKS transforms into the Staff of Ra that can somehow interact with holographic maps and the ship's computers to reveal a wormhole and allow them to safely travel through said wormhole.

>The wormhole takes them to a backup homeworld of their species so the original genocide is completely forgotten for the rest of the show

 No.132>>134 >>220

>>130

You got the entire order of events wrong, not to mention context.

The point of Kallus is he got his weapon legitimately. It was only ever IMPLIED he stole it. Zeb can't actually dispute his ownership in light of that without saying his own traditions were invalid.

It was revealed that Kallus didn't have any actual input into the attack and was against it from basically the start. He just didn't feel terribly bad about it because another rebel of the same species was also guilty of war crimes and killed everyone he ever cared about.

That's not to say Kallus is somehow a good guy. He's been pretty clearly evil through the series so any idea of him turning good is ridiculous unless he does something really dramatic. But the point of his arc, and a lot of other rebels material, is that a lot of imperial officials are basically lying to themselves about how bad the empire actually is.

Which make's Zeb's arc weak and pointless and turns Kallus from a legitimate threat and amoral yet loyal agent of the Empire into some kind of misguided retard that just isn't thinking hard enough about why there are suddenly less aliens in the galaxy. He tries reciting some bullshit about Geonosis almost like he believes it himself when someone in his position should either know better or have a vague idea of what really happened (especially if he was involved in killing that one planet's governor on Vader's orders)

Yeah, basically Not!Wookies have a tradition where you surrender your weapon to a superior warrior after they beat you, so Kallus rightfully earned it because he kicked the previous owners' ass in fair combat.

>Thrawn is fucked forever

>Kyle Katarn is nothing now

Star Wars is now truly shit… Every other bit of media is going to shit too… I have nothing now. Nothing to get excited about nothing to be a fanboy of anymore. Almost every well-known franchise is being bastardized, rebooted or being turned into a pc-ridden mess, and this goes for all other forms of entertainment, tv shows, movies, vidya, anime, toonshit, comics, books, everything. So what have I anymore? What reason do I have to get excited or get through the day? My career is the most passionless thing imaginable so I can't get excited about improving that. I have no gf anymore. No real friends (just a bunch of obnoxious college hipster "pals" who don't realize they're too old to still be acting like effeminate selfish twats). No media or fandom to be a part of since all of it is shit and the fandoms are even worse and full of even more obnoxious superficial faggots devoid of any real sense of brotherhood or community unless it involves some kind of id politics. And most of all no gf anymore. So what fucking reason do I have to keep on going forward? I'd always thought "well at least I'll always have Star Wars and other favorites and those who enjoy them to make things worthwhile for me", but now that's gone too and anyone I could enjoy it with went off to devote their time to something else or become devoted cock suckers to Disney because they know nothing else. Even /sw/ and other once flourishing SW sites and forums are being forced to conform or be left behind. So what now? What have I now?

You mean Kallus? I'm 95% sure that Thrawn not only knows he's a mole but is counting on it.

 No.418>>420 >>1123

>>404

I think it's abundantly obvious that Thrawn knows.

Kallus was the only real logical choice as far as mole's go. Pryce was the one to call him in. Tarkin isn't even around anymore since he's in the emperor's inner circle and has better shit to occupy himself with. The junior officers that never get named only have authority over small groups of troopers so they can't feed multi-planet information. An internal mole needs to logically be an intelligence agent like Kallus.

Especially given how Thrawn caught random ex-farmer dude. He lost something to the empire and wanted to strike back. Kallus has lost basically every person he was working with initially and gotten nothing out of it.

I took the stuff at the end as basically being a fucking dare. If the leaks dry up it was probably Kallus because he was the only one warned. If they don't, Thrawn has more chances to catch Kallus with his pants down.

 No.420>>426

>>418

Rumor is that Dave Filoni is working on another cartoon series and there may not be a season 4 for Rebels. Thrawn keeps letting them escape, but he also stated in the season 3 intro that he's manipulating them into causing their own destruction.

I wonder if they could get away with just ending the show on a dark note and letting Thrawn, Vader, and/or Maul be the reason why none of these rebels are around by the Battle of Yavin.

 No.426>>428

Lol you give them too much credit. Its a Disney show. If they do end it on a dark note, it'll be as subtle and non-blatant as fuck like Ahsoka's shitty fate.

 No.428

I surmised that they left Ahsoka's circumstances somewhat open as a means to peddle tie-in crap at a later date. There are quite a few saddos who find crayola space babes sexy enough to spend money on.

Better still, knowing Kallus is a leak allows Thrawn to use him for Misinformation, having the Rebels running around till their ragged chasing phantom menaces until they think a very real warning of an oncoming threat is just another cry of wolf.
