Yeah, unless zabraks have all their vital organs in different places than humans then that would have finished him off in seconds. Even Darth Sion didn't get cut in half when he used the Force to suppress his injuries so they can't use that as a viable excuse.
Most of the people at Lucasfilm seemed to agree that killing off Maul in TPM was a wasted opportunity for a recurring villain that is instantly recognizable, physically striking and has a direct personal motivation towards Obi-Wan and Anakin and vice versa. But instead of realizing how ridiculous it would be to magic him back from the dead, they went ahead anyway. I wouldn't mind if they decided to hamfistedly retcon it by making a special edition rerelease of Phantom Menace where he doesn't split in two when he falls down the pit but they didn't even bother doing that, they just got Lucas to rubber stamp him surviving for an indefinite period of time with half his organs missing and somehow relying on the help of strangers.
