S'up /sw/,

Used to be a DM for an NWN server that incorporated Modern D20/Custom haks to produce a KoTOR universe that we used to fuck around in. I've only ever seen original trilogy, prequels when I was a kid (could never bring myself to watch them as an adult now), and like the first quarter of the KoTOR/KoTOR2 games (I'm a very busy man so I get bored only playing through an hour at a time before having to get back to work or go to sleep or go to the gym or etc.). Pretty much all of my knowledge of Star Wars outside these universes was secondary knowledge gleamed from reading a shit ton of Wookieepedia articles/Star Wars tabletop D&D books. So while I know a lot about how Disney has fucked over Star Wars just from my briefs, my refusal to see the new movies and lack of reading the legacy expanded universe has left me with a sour taste that I can't really explain to my friends in the franchise who absolutely love the new shit.

Anyways, is there a Casualfag's guide to the old guard that I can read from start to finish? I've got a year to catch up on this stuff before I'm forced into a situation where I won't be able to easily read these books/comics/etc. but I usually read the equivalent of about 15-50 pages of light novels/web novels every night so getting through comics or novels wouldn't be too bad.

As a present I give you my Original Clone Wars reaction images folder: https://mega.nz/#F!6gcnDASJ!RA1Ecsl1-Va1ZNL8evdjNQ

Not that I can suggest. If you want, do like I did and read all the novels, comics and other expanded media in order of their release from 1977 to 2008ish. But if you want to read it based on a timeline, you can give http://www.starwarstimeline.net/ a shot. They're a reliable bunch who even put the nuCanon under non-canon.

That would be the "Legends" section of Wookiepeida. Doesn't get anymore disgustingly casual than a wiki. Bunch of fucking traitors. They have several lists on EU releases, such as http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_Legends_media

I heard there's a new movie coming out you might like :)

I'm not that casual, anon.

Read a little of it. Looks legit. Not sure if I want to deal with the suffering of knowing this franchise is fucked but I'll probably end up reading it.

They're about as true blue as it gets. Trustworthy, loyal to the pre-Disney era, and very well informed. And also one of the few fan sites who didn't completely bend over to Disney's iron fisting.

Listen to the Darth Plagueis audiobook, it'll change your life.

Are you being sarcastic?

It is hard to detect sarcasm on the Internet.

No, they separate the older Expanded Universe 'EU' from the Disney Universe 'DU' (that began in 2014) into two different groups

The website he linked to specifically puts all the Disney material under their "Infinities" section, which is clearly labeled "non-canon"
