Good news, fellow degenerates! Monster Girl Quest Paradox has just received a major patch. What this means is translation should be back on the fast track since this patch was anticipated for a long time and expected to mess up some translation framework. In the meantime, we can enjoy the gameplay revamps that 2.20 brings to us. This is practically a full expansion pack.

>Where can I get it?

http://www.dlsite.com/ecchi-eng/work/=/product_id/RE201109.html

I hope you remember your dlsite password. If you're a dirty pirate, you'll have to find a download yourself.

>What's new?

A lot of traits have been retooled. For example, when Luka's HP is low, his Heroism skills get a major power boost. Several other characters also have a similar boost to their skills when low on HP. Characters like the tiny bandits and the elemental spirits get boosts to their abilities when they're in a party together.

A bunch of new LoC content like new superbosses and game-breaking accessories. There are short chaotic trial dungeons and an infinitely generated chaos labyrinth.

Some Beelzebub H-scenes and a shitload of Sonia CGs. You're welcome.

Some new character interactions, including Barbun and Freya, and Saki and Wakame.

Weapons and skills now all have unique characteristics. Too much to detail in this post, but I'll follow up later. In particular, doping has been nerfed, but having a scalpel equipped keeps it closer to what it was before.

Basically, all skills, weapons, and traits have been buffed to be more interesting, with some minor nerfs here and there.

>Translation when?

2.20 just came out, so no word from Dargoth yet. There's a lot to go through. I haven't tried applying the current translation patch, but I doubt it will work with this build. We'll have to make due with machine translation until Dargoth can pull something together. With his team's talent, I'm confident we'll get a major translation patch soon(TM). Being able to work with 2.20 will either be a big help or a nightmare, but we'll have to wait for Dargoth's next blog post to find out.

Discuss anything MGQ and Paradox here. Post teams and strategies.

Despite having played all three MGQ games, I haven't touched Paradox yet because I don't like turn-based JRPGs unless they have interesting combat mechanics or highly customisable character/party building options (like Etrian Odyssey's skills or FFV's job system).

What does Paradox play like?

>>331446

This, but my reasons are different. Want a full translation to come out for it before I touch it. Was spoiled by discovering MGQ after a full translation was made for it and would rather play paradox with said full translation. And there better be lewds with Alice in her real body and not that pedobait loli body.

Neglected to mention the pocket castle maid can now also store items for you, if you feel like you have too many things clogging your inventory. On to weapon changes, lifted and roughly translated from torotoro's blog…

Daggers: Equipping a dagger increases evasion rate. Enemies afflicted with darkness, paralysis, sleep, and shock take major damage from dagger skills.

Swords: Using sword skills may give the user a guard state (unclear what this means, possibly a defense boost or counter state).

Knight Swords: Knight Swords might block or counter physical attacks

Giant Swords: Rate of activation for secondary effects from sword skills is increased, enemies attacked with a giant sword may have their defense decreased, attacking an enemy with decreased defense using a giant sword causes major damage

Rapiers: Increases SP charge rate, using rapier skills recovers SP, enemies afflicted with a burn take major damage from rapier skills.

Magic Swords: Equipping a magic sword will boost the user's attack when using sword skills and boost the user's magic when using magic skills (Another one I'm not sure about, but I'm fairly sure the Magical Sword ability still lets you use magic for sword skills instead of attack).

Spears: Attacking enemies with a spear will lower their agility.

Heavy Spears: Equipping heavy spears will now lower the user's agility, but attacking enemies afflicted with slow/stop using spear skills will cause major damage.

Katanas: Higher critical hit rate (?)

Ninja Swords: Increases evasion when using ninjutsu skills

More to come…

That pedobait loli body is pretty great though. Hopefully there'll be more scenes of her and Ilias before they get unlolified.

Fists: Fists also seem to have a higher critical hit rate

Fangs: From what I can tell they either have a high critical hit rate or high accuracy, beast skills decrease the enemy's agility

Axes: Axes now have a very high critical hit rate, attacking enemies with an axe will lower their defense, using axe skills on enemies with lowered defense will now cause major damage.

Clubs: Clubs now have a high critical hit rate, attacking enemies with a club will lower their defense, using club skills on enemies afflicted with freeze will cause major damage.

Scythes: Attacking enemies with a scythe will lower their magic and willpower. Using scythe skills on enemies afflicted with silence, confusion, or sleep will cause major damage.

Staves: At the end of each turn, all active party members will be slightly healed.

Rods: Rods boost the user's magic at the start of each turn.

Bows: Using bow skills on enemies that are already weakened will cause major damage.

Whips: Whips now attack all enemies at once (Not sure if they did this before). Using whip skills on enemies afflicted with bind will lower their attack.

Harps: Attacking enemies with a harp might inflict confusion or temptation. Using piracy skills on enemies afflicted with confusion or temptation will cause major damage (not sure about this one either).

Boomerangs: Boomerangs attack all enemies at once (They did this before). Using throwing skills now increases evasion.

Flails: Flails attack all enemies at once (They did this before). Using flail skills on enemies afflicted with stun will cause major damage.

Fans: Fans now have a high critical hit rate. Using fan skills on enemies afflicted with ecstasy, temptation, or incontinence will cause major damage.

Kitchen Knives: There is now a chance that using cooking skills will not consume the ingredients.

Abacuses: Decreases the gold cost of mercantile skills

Scalpels: Medicine skills will apply beneficial effects to allies for more turns when a scalpel is equipped. Using medicine skills on enemies afflicted with poison and zombie will cause major damage.

Cards: Cards now have a very high critical hit rate, and may allow the user to act twice in one turn.

Plates: The beneficial effects of service skills will last for more turns when a plate is equipped. Using service skills on enemies afflicted with ecstasy or incontinence will now cause major damage.

Grimoires: Reduces the SP costs of magic science skills. There is now a chance that using grimoire and alchemy skills will not consume the required items.

Guns: Using gun skills on enemies with boosted stats will cause major damage.

Sex Toys: Using sexcraft skills on enemies afflicted with horny will cause major damage.

Small Shields: Slightly increases evasion rate.

Shields: Increases evasion rate.

Heavy Shields: Greatly increases evasion rate.

If you're looking for a JRPG with a customizable party, it's hard to find one bigger than this. I have 370 party members on my file for parts 1 & 2, and that doesn't include some route exclusives. It's an RPGmaker game, yes, with the stock interface, but they stretch the content as far as they can manage. You recruit party members through story events and fighting monsters in the wild that might offer to join your party when you beat them. You can recruit just about every enemy in the game, with some story exceptions. Every party member has a unique trait like boosting the power of certain skills or attacking multiple times in one turn, and each one has a job and race you can change depending on the character. Jobs and races grant access to different skills, abilities, and passive bonuses, along with stat modification. Abilities can do things like boost stats, modify the encounter rate, or provide status resistances. You can equip any abilities learned by each party member at your own discretion. Leveling up jobs and races gives access to new skills and abilities, and maxing them grants access to more advanced jobs and races with better bonuses. Mastering Magician and Martial Artist, for example, lets the character take on the Magus Fist job.

If you haven't gotten into Paradox yet, I wouldn't recommend downloading 2.20 until we get a good interface/translation patch. As far as a full translation goes, we won't be getting that far for years to come. Adult Alice doesn't appear yet outside of a superboss encounter, so we'll probably see her when part 3 comes out.

Here's a dumb question, but does Luka keep his first game portrait through all of part 2?

Short update from Dargoth.

https://dargoth.com/paradox-2-20-is-finally-here

He's not entirely sure how to proceed with a patch, but he's just letting everyone know that he's working on it.

Yes.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me, man. Him always having an arm over half his face while talking looks goofy to me, so I'll swap it for his second one. Weird how they made faces of his second and third part portraits but don't seem to be using them, but oh well.

I just wish Dargoth would completely translate the first one, H-scenes and all, before starting on part 2 and 3 to tide people over rather than just doing all three at once. With how slow he is at this point it would be quicker to just go to one of V's learning Japanese threads and learn it yourself. I remember he said Rogue was helping him once but he hasn't said anything about it since, cause I know Rogue would have probably finished it by now with how quick he is.

https://dargoth.com/so-paradox-2-20-is-buggy-as-hell

Another short non-update, patch for 2.20 is confirmed not happening. I had a sinking feeling something like this would happen, though I was kind of hoping the next patch wouldn't hinge on torotoro releasing yet another version of the game before part 3, as soon and likely as that is to happen. No mention of what the translation files have so far for updated equipment and trait information either. I'm about a gnat's whisker away from finding the UI descriptions and machine translating them myself. Anyway, sorry about building this up prematurely, I guess.

733441 (1)  No.345071>>345294

So no new translated content since July last year? Shit. I may as well wait a year between even checking at this point.

I still can't understand why they didn't do a full machine translation of every god damn line of text that wasn't already in English, first thing. Then work from there on proper translations. It makes no sense.

Have they been updating the git? I know they aren't releasing any patches until part 2 is done.

I'm pretty sure they have been.

>>345170

Wasn't there another person/group that was doing just that with Dargoth's work patch-to-patch?

d5229a (1)  No.359288

Pretty bummed about the game taking so long. I feel like it's been years since I nearly finished MGQ. It'll probably be worth the wait, but I'd like to get into playing at least Part 1 with trust in an English script.

027c00 (1)  No.359573

there hasn't been a patch for a while, but you can get an updated version of the projct and manually patch it if you go to Dargoth's discord.
