>Hiroyuki had signed a contract with a data mining company named Hotlink
That's incorrect. Hiroyuki owns Hotlink. It's his company, and through it he offered backdoor access to 2ch data for large companies. He obfuscated this by having Hotlink sell shit-tier "analytics" packages which were hugely over-priced for what they were (think tens of thousands of dollars for a simple Twitter monitor tier) and then offered access to 2ch data on the side as a "favour".
He's a pretty inoffensive-seeming guy IRL with an absolutely monstrous lack of any kind of integrity.
