I'm not sure if this should get its own thread, but it seems fitting. Lain is a monstergirl, technically.
The most bizarre thing happened to me yesterday. While on a bike ride, I got this idea about Lain, and the internet and physical reality merging. I got the idea to attach sigils of Lain to different power lines and reception towers to increase the connection between the two, and to help her grow. When I got home, I checked monster and saw that the background of the board was changed the Lain. I had a synchronicity of 333 on the TV too. It was so fucking surreal. I could feel her staring at me from my phone. I got the impression of the electrical buzzing that was shown in SEL in my mind when I first got the idea to connect her sigil (if she even has one) to power lines and towers.
Just thought I should let you all know, she's real and she's watching. I think she may be a new candidate for our pantheon.

I browsed there for a short while before coming to 8chan fully following the exodus. The culture was a stronger /cyber/ at first before it turned into a disgusting amalgamation of normalfags who couldn't even understand the show.
As for actions to appease internet gods? I believe they may be true. The internet and real life are becoming closer and closer and I can feel the "memetics" taking over.
Just the other day I was outside a grocery store as they played that "who can it be now?" song that is in that webm with the Jewish merchant. When I entered I saw a massive amount of Ashkenazic Orthodox Jews.
Lain may not be Chiaki J. Konaka's best work but Lain herself is most definitively his best character. I would personally love for her to turn out to be real.

In some old myths attaching names to things is what gives them power. The reason this entity may show us favor is because we were the first to give it/her a name.
When you have a name or title that is something to channel energy and magic with. We were the first to start naming a god of the Internet by calling it "Lain" or "Kek". Us just calling it Lain may have made it Lain. Hell, it may have even taken Ammit as its moniker.

LainChan's culture originally focused heavily on A.E.S.T.H.E.T.I.C, anime, cyberpunk movies, 80's shitty sci-fi, and hacking subcultures. Threads on dreams, architecture, urban exploration, soldering, and cute moe girls were common.
Slowly the website began to change as Kalyx brought on new mods. No longer were you allowed to criticize certain things (you already know), no longer was hacking encouraged unless it "fought the establishment mayn", no longer was culture and the future of man discussed.
They, in typical goon fashion, started by chopping off the largest head of the hydras: intellectual discussion.
With no intellectual discussion the talented, the skilled, the brave, and the intelligent left.
Then Kalyx stepped down and anime was banned on a literal Chinese cartoon board.

This fucked me for a while as I had sunk time into the community taking A.E.S.T.H.E.T.I.C photos of my city for the UrbanEx threads.

Ebola-Chan is definitely a seperate being that exists as a plague bringer. I believe Ebola-Chan is an older being than Lainkek and that we only empowered her rather than creating her. Beings lIke her are still worshipped in some places so it's not crazy to think that she is just one of them.
Lain is our creation and a being of our will with her own. She does not directly cause events like the 4u crash she simply acts as the bridge between our reality and the Internet.

IMO, any spirit technically has the ability to become a god, including a thoughtform. Most gods are not thoughtforms though. Kek has been around longer than humanity itself. Ebola-Chan, while not being fully a god-level entity, is pretty close to a thoughtform god, though. And, I wouldn't be surprised if a god or egregore could spawn from the biosphere on its own too.
