Rogue is back? Nice. This means we'll be getting the goodness pretty fast.

Rogue did MGQ1,2,3 so with him helping out Daragoth the third house will rise again and the outlander will be driven from Vvardenfell.

Yup. With two of them (and a few other people helping Dargoth with editing and stuff) hopefully it won't take 2+ years for part 2 to be translated. It seems like Rogue worked a lot faster on the original trilogy than Dargoth works on Paradox but the size of the game is much bigger now. And Paradox part 2 is even bigger than 1.

Main quest, and most of the side quest-ish stuff. The interactions in the castle are spotty at best, completely untranslated at worst. It is best to assume all new H-scenes are untranslated because of how few are. Most comments from the characters as a reaction to NPCs or story events are translated.

I'm not sure of the exact percent, but if you are just planning on playing through for the story, its perfectly playable with no knowledge of Japanese.

Last patch is technically just over half of the raw text but according to Dargoth about 3/4 actual of work was done. The story and gameplay are pretty much all done, but h-scenes and some side stuff (monster book lore, casinos, most battle talk, castle interactions with later game companions) are still work in progress.

That was… in February, I think? Dunno how much work they've done since then but now with Rouge on board it shouldn't be long for a full or close-to-full patch for part 1.

She's the second main character after Luka and Luka as the game protagonist doesn't need that much art. It's not really the same in Paradox anymore with the Alice/Ilias choice and a 8-character party, she's just one of the main characters but we'll see how they solve that. I guess technically Luka has the most art because he's in all the h-scenes

Setouchi seems to be gradually becoming a better artist. I remember in the original trilogy, and especially in part 1, I felt like his illustrations were the weakest.

UN DO is still my favorite artist among the bunch, I appreciate his use of watercolors, even if he sometimes exaggerates proportions which I dislike.

It's way too much art for one guy to do it all. Also everyone likes (and dislikes) different artists, if they got just one for everything a lot of people would be pissed. And most of them draw MGQ fanart (is it fanart when it's made by official artists?), Setouchi has made like 10 MGQ doujins.

Let's see if I've paid attention to things (/monster/ will call me a faggot if I'm wrong): MGQ paradox is a full fledged game, but not broken down into parts. The only reason translators are doing it this way is due to the sheer amount of content in it as it's bigger than MGQ.

No, its a series. Torotoro only made the first one so far. Its still massive, as I think the first one was bigger than the third MGQ, but the second paradox is even bigger and its gonna get bigger from there. Every monster is a possible recruit, with only a couple of notable exceptions, and they tend to have things to say or react to specific reactions so every time a party member is added, more lines get added.

Part 1 of Paradox is translated enough for you to do the entire main story comfortably. I played through it and had a great time. I recommend choosing Ilias as your partner. Her story and character are more interesting than Alice's for a number of reasons, some of which are kind of spoilery.

>>296549

The entirety of Paradox isn't available for purchase. It's split into 3 sold separately parts just like the original VN. Part 2 is coming out very, very soon and Part 3 will be years from now. Who knows how long it'll take to translate Part 2 or for the translation to even start.

Oh, then you've got quite a bit of bullshit you need to do.

Since you're at Grand Noah via NG+ I'm going to assume you've already done the library stuff and spirit things and know the general outline of how this goes, but just in case you've forgotten or other people need to know the essential side stuff that needs to be done in part 1 to continue in part 2 I'll list it here anyway

First talk to pope man in his castle again, he'll ask if you want to take up guard duty, say yes. If for some reason this isn't happening send me a screen shot of what he does say so I can try and figure out what the fuck you broke.

Then you go to luddite and talk to the priest guy in a house in the upper part of the city.

After that take the exit to the east of the city, talking to the NPCs along the way, to open up the Mecha Cave.

Fight Bryn with the MOTHERFUCKING MECHA POPE and all that.

Go to Sara, lose the bf because winning means death, talk to NPCs at the bar in Sabasa, go into the abandoned building and get whatever, although you might have already done this bit.

Head over to the Oasis, talk to the assassin chick, unless you did the FUCKING MECHA POPE quest she refused to help you, but now that you have done so you can go to the sphinx in the pyramid for monster blood

Take the monster blood back and beat the shit out of Sara

Take Sara to luddite and watch everyone die again, then Sara officially joins your party

You can now continue on with part 2 in Grand Noah.

If you followed the guide, You should have taken the Dullahan to the village's mayor. That initiates the quests at the shrines. In the Nekomata shrine (the one that is filled with nekomatas) you need to speak with the shrine maiden there, find the correct Nekomata, and talk with the shrine maiden again. At the tanuki shrine, speak with the kitsune there. Find the Tanuki in Yamata no Orochi's cave, and talk with the kitsune after she's back. If Tamamo is absent from her house that's still fine. If not, speak to her, I guess. I don't know if anything is different or not on that end in Alice's route. If you got access to the eastern jobs, then you can continue and talk with Elf Queen.

The bondage rope doubles XP in exchange for starting battles blind, paralyzed, and silenced. This bonus applies to reserve party members as well, effectively nullifying its downside. c2b208 (6) No.307715

>>307487

The idea is to make your characters as general as possible, honestly, and there is the possibility of running into enemies that your physical fighters can't do much/anything against. So stuff like Blade of Healing would give them something to do while your mages do the damage. The game does encourage you to go through related jobs, and even unrelated ones, to get at everything they need to be damn powerful.

Prom also gets that skill from being an angel. Sometimes racial skills/abilities are useless to the character that gets them. For example, all angels get resist and nullify ascension abilities. That is a passive trait to the angel race that they get without using abilities. However, on characters with access to multiple races, such as Luka, you could use that to your advantage if he happens upon a race tree that is weak to that.

>>307573

Its been awhile, but even at the very end of the game Luka and Alice got outclassed in damage by the Four Heavenly Knights and Tamamo tanks a quadruple giga while in her sealed form. Luka's thing in the original was charisma.

Mina has to be my favorite party member by far. She's the only character in part 1 with access to the berserker job, which has even more HP and attack than battle master and basically never runs out of SP. Berserkers act on their own, but her skills are all offensive and hit like a truck so it's unlikely that she'll waste a turn. Since she's berserk already you can equip her with accessories like the reckless mask without penalty, and her trait boosts her axe skill attack power by 30% ON TOP of all that. The berserker job gives her abilities like Attack +20%, double SP charge, axe booster +15% (which also boosts multiweapon skills for battle master), and the berserker ability so you can carry over berserk power to other jobs.

Hell, if you have the patience for it you can grind her to master martial artist and make her a battle master so you can give her two axes and turn her into a one-monster atomic bomb. Keep berserker off for precision annihilation or turn it on to get the berserker attack and SP boost for mass uncontrolled carnage. It's just a shame she doesn't get a proper battle cutin like everyone else.

>>308433

Just talk to each character in the pocket castle and select Request to see which scenes they have, and the required affection rating to view them. You can increase a party member's affection by keeping them in your active party or giving them presents, as long as you don't give them worthless crap they don't like. Each character has her own preferences, but your safest bet is Ama Ama Dangos from the Sutherland Inn or high-quality food cooked by a character with the cook/three star chef job.

I don't like multi-posting like this, but since no one else is posting in this thread any more I guess I'll give my thoughts on the ending. Rather than using something competent, I powered through the Alice route of part 2 with the power of chiitrans and Google Translate. I was able to read through the Engrish pretty well, although I couldn't parse what Tamamo was saying at the Fox shrine. I actually enjoyed this part quite a lot with all the party members and jobs and races it opened up. In fact, there's mercifully only one tartarus rift you have to explore in part 2, and it doesn't lead to a ruined hellscape. I thought it held together really well until the ending. Actual spoilers for the ending of part 2 coming up…

All you really need to know about the ending is that a bunch of crazy bullshit suddenly happens and characters pop up out of nowhere with no build-up so we can have a climax. That's par for the course at this point, so I don't have a problem with the final battle. What happens afterward, however, fucking baffles me. The Lilith sisters show up so they can destroy what's left of this world's Ilias, I think. Alice is mildly annoyed that they suddenly kill Ilias while she was giving exposition, but I guess she gets over it pretty quickly. After the fireworks of the final battle are over, Morrigan offers to become a companion. I shit you not. The Lilith sisters are the most pervasive and consistent source of misery and conflict for all of part 1 and 2, and at the end they show up and ask for a spot on the team so Morrigan can spy on Luka. The Lilith sisters, by the way, were also the masterminds who orchestrated the war in Sentora by mass-brainwashing the entire population of the Gold region, imprisoning the Queen Ant, and brainwashing the King of Grangold and turning him into a mass-murdering superweapon. Ending the war is the primary conflict that drives the first half of part 2. Succubi-fying all the women and killing all the men in Luddite Village was just an extracurricular activity for them. Hell, you spend most of your sidequest time rehabilitating all the human leaders and monster queens they fucked over. And the entire time they have the fucking GALL to insist that they totally know what they're doing and it's all for the sake of saving the world and they should be working together with Luka, honest. So naturally, when Morrigan tries to join the party, I tell this bitch NO multiple times, and she STILL forces her way in. Luka and Alice just roll with it. But hey, at least now I have a powerful new succubus comrade, right? Ha Ha, WRONG. Morrigan's energy was conveniently drained during the climax (which also gave us a harder final boss to deal with, thanks a lot you fucking moron), so she lost a lot of her power. But hey, at least she's on par with the rest of my party…or so I thought, until I saw her default job. Master Swordcerer. That is, a spellsword. The shittiest job I couldn't make good no matter how hard I tried. Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't get any swords or sword skills to do any respectable damage in this game. At least it's over.

Except it's not, because there is also a post-story sidequest involving Morrigan. So I drag her and Promestein through Luddite village past the graves of all the men Morrigan turned into dried fish and into the ever-relevant hidden laboratory. In the back where Luka met Hild, Morrigan and Promestein talk a bit about the main computer and the data contained in the facility, and Morrigan starts expositing about herself to give some flimsy justifications for being preposterously evil. See, the Lilith sisters came from a parallel universe where monsters won the Great Monster Wars and reign supreme, and they came to this world by killing themselves and somehow entering their bodies from this world, melding their personalities and memories, awakening, and breaking out from wherever they were. Out of the goodness of their hearts, they're killing any men they come across who don't belong in the "main timeline" and sending their souls to the world they came from, liberated from Ilias' influence. That way they can live in that world instead of facing doom in this world that's supposed to be ending soon. It's just a happy coincidence that their world is dominated by semen-hungry monsters and sending men there involves raping them to death with no explanation. When Morrigan gets done spouting all this bullshit, guess who shows up? Alma Elma. The last time Alma saw the Lilith sisters, they ganged up on her to beat her within an inch of her life and lock her in a sealed prison. Alma's fate was even an emotional point of drama during the war campaign. So yeah, Alma is here to get revenge for that…and, you know, to kill Morrigan for being such a dangerously evil psychotic bitch. What is Luka's reaction to all of this? "No, Alma! I have to defend Morrigan! I won't let you hurt my new friend!" It was at this point that I slammed my head into a wall. So we have a fight with Alma Elma. After letting Alma rape Morrigan, I spam her to death with Dispel and Gnome-boosted spear skills. At long last, Alma Elma joins the party for real. All's well that ends well.

Alma's castle request scenes are all tail vore, plus a recycled handjob scene.

At this point I consider myself thoroughly trolled. 10/10, torotoro. Well done.

I'm going to be honest with you, I'm not sure what anyone expected there. They outright tell you at Luddite that they are going to be joining your party later. Plus, the game already has you recruiting the apoptosis, which appear to share a single mind in some cases, and are known to massacre populations whose world gets infected by chaos.

It is odd that they have it work out that way. Its a bit of a bait and switch, since my understanding is that the Illias route has more character moments, and is basically the start of her sorting herself out into a better person. You would expect most people to go for Alice first since she was heroine of the last game, and Illias was a massive bitch. So now Alice gets two now, more later, of the biggest bitches in the franchise.

Also: that class doesn't make any fucking sense for her. She is never shown with a weapon, and if I were to go with something I would go either pure mage or magus fist.

Not saying it isn't bullshit, just that the game was fairly obvious about the fact that at some point the bitch squad was joining your party on that route. The game is equally obvious about the angels like Gnosis joining your party on the Illias route. I'd also say that the game is fairly obvious about the fact that both Illias and Alice's solution to the spread of Chaos won't work as they are both too weak to fight it.

I might be willing to forgive it if they adopt a Llamas with Hats routine.

>"Morrigan! What happened to this traveling merchant? Did you do this?"

<"Oh, hey, I didn't even notice him. How did he get here?"

>"You drained this guy to death and dumped his body on the side of the road, didn't you?"

<"What? Me? Why would I do this?"

>"It's all you ever do, Morrigan."

<"That's not true. What about the time I baked brownies for everyone?"

>"You baked a potent aphrodisiac into those brownies!"

<"Hey, it's not my fault people today can't handle a little added kick to their baked goods."

I'm surprised the head priest of the Ilias temple doesn't react to seeing Morrigan in Luka's party. I like the short interaction he has with the King of San Ilia. Imagine if he had more unique lines as Luka gathers more imposing, famous, and legendary figures into his party.

"Well met, Unblessed Hero - OH WHAT THE FUCK!"

On an unrelated note, I compared Mina to Monster Cow Lord at peak strength. Monster Cow Lord comes out slightly ahead, especially with the higher damage bonus from her trait. I still have to stick with my old favorite Mina, though, for the wider set of skills I've accrued for her.

I also stumbled across a skill that breaks the game: Waning Moon Dance, learned by the White Snake Kagura race. What does it do? It makes all allies in battle immune to physical damage for four rounds. That's right. All physical damage, for everyone at once, with speed priority. Eat shit, Vicarious Clara. The catch? It ain't cheap. 12 SP for just four rounds. The solution? Just equip a gold magatama to halve SP costs. Boom. You just won the game. You can find one gold magatama in a treasure chest in the final area of the main story, but if you're patient enough you can steal as many as you want from manta girls in the open sea. With this skill, you can make a party that is virtually immune to harm.

I used Teeny as the cornerstone with Waning Moon Dance, and her all-important service skill Special Herbal Tea which lets her quickly restore SP for herself or an ally one at a time so she can keep refreshing Waning Moon Dance. Next you want someone who can cast a magic reflection wall for the party. White Snake Kagura also learns Evening Moon Dance which, you guessed it, nullifies magic damage for the same SP cost as Waning Moon Dance. I think it's better to have someone else defend against magic attacks since Teeny will already be really busy restoring SP for everyone and refreshing one dance, and she can't afford to spend that much SP that quickly. Plus, magic reflection is just more fun. You can use a summoner with carbuncle if you want more versatility and magic damage, but I went with Undine as a purifying slime with Aqua Mirror. That way she can keep casting magic reflection with SP that can be refreshed by Teeny. A summoner might still be preferable if you want one less SP sink to worry about and you think your MP reserves can hold out. It's up to you. With physical and magical walls taken care of, I elected Remi as a Godly Doctor to handle final contingencies. She should be using Mass Shock Resistance Injection and Mass Antibiotic Injection. Those skills make allies immune to all forms of instant defeat and all common status effects, respectively. If you ever have the time and SP to spare for Remi, it's also worthwhile to use Mass Doping and Re-Revival Treatment, just in case. With three party members dedicated to buffs and defense, we have one slot open for a damage dealer. Take your pick. It might take longer to win fights, but as long as Teeny is around to restore SP and everyone is immune to virtually everything, you'll be able to take your time.

With this, your party reflects magical damage and other spells, and is immune to physical damage, common status effects, and all forms of instant defeat. The biggest hurdle is making sure everyone survives the first round long enough to cast their buffs before they get one-shotted or hit with a debilitating status effect. As far as other weaknesses go, Dispel is obviously the biggest one. There's not much you can do about that but try to recover as quickly as possible. Status effects not covered by Mass Antibiotic Injection are also a problem, since even one ally missing a round can spell disaster. See if anyone on your team can handle specialized recovery or immunity. Finally, you'll want to pick the right damage dealer for the job to get past your opponent's own buffs and defenses. Heavy physical hitters are usually your best bet.

With this setup, I managed to defeat all three forms of alternate universe Black Alice on my first attempt…well, almost. Her third form has a bullshit darkness attack that hits everyone six times in a row and bypasses all forms of defense. After I got nailed by that out of nowhere, I swapped out Monster Cow Lord for Luka so he could tank that attack as well as deal damage and tried again. After she used it again, I swapped out for my reserve team and spammed Einherjar so I could destroy her before she destroyed me. It just barely worked.

When Torotoro started Paradox, you can tell they were thinking someone would waifu pretty much any and all of the characters. So, the monsters seem much less interested in fucking everything that moves once they join the party, and it starts focusing on their other traits, as bland or one note as they might be. You can guess why. The exceptions are maybe the nun monsters who have a routine of confessing to having no self control, and of course that fucking mermaid, Meia.

As far as interactions, there are too many characters now, and that means a lot of missed opportunities. For example, if you bring Don Dahlia to Don Father's estate, no one reacts at least in part 1. Hell, I don't think she has any special interactions, and I haven't checked with any of the other small time human characters. It makes the random recruits seem a bit less worthwhile to pick up, and recruiting them a bit more like filling up a demon compendium in an SMT game without the use of fusion. At least the battle fuckers are easy to pick up, and even if you don't particularly want a boss character, the process of getting them is worth it for experience. As for why the head priest didn't react, chances are he didn't know that Morrigan was the infamous Morrigan; I don't even remember Alice knowing, or believing, that Morrigan was one of the three until after the first fight. I am betting if you ever restore Alice and Illias to their full forms, you will probably see lines like that.

Physical damage isn't a catch all. The most dangerous attacks are still the "sure hit" kind, which aren't magic or phys.
