Yes, the 3rd gens are still a bit pricy, and the 4th gen new ones are still too new to even consider. Miatas have sadly got the ricer tax put on them over the years, so a cleaner NA/NB is tougher and tougher to find at a reasonable price.
They're simple, but it's still very cramped to work on. Especially if you need to get underneath the tranny.
A weekend is necessary, because things don't always go smoothly, and more time is usually needed.
