But I got new headphones just after I started posting here, remember? And my last pair lasted me a few years!

I dunno, I'm pretty set for games at the moment.

I'm not a person who needs lots of things! I guess I've been thinking of grabbing a new pair of shoes and an e-book reader.

Definitely is.

Oh, well, that happens! I've dropped contact with basically everyone I've used to be friends with. I feel bad about it, but I can't be bothered to talk with people I won't be seeing anymore anyways, that I only befriended through proximity in the first place.

Also.

>Instead of donating the shoes to people who need it or the homeless, they destroy them.

Liberal logic.

Is it written in a way that's hard to read?

Older books usually have that style of writing and it can be a slog to finish. Heart of Darkness took me a while to read because the damn book would describe every detail of the environment and the people abroad the boat.

>>13006

I think we all pushed it out as fringe and believe that no one could do that. But we still have to see if Spirit Cooking is real…

>>13008

In addendum to that…Nike promised that they'd bring their factories back to US shores and that they supported DJT. So, many people threw away their sneakers in a fit of rage on twitter.

Unfortunately books follow trends and as you stated. the current trend is downwards. A good example is Fifety Shades of Grey selling millions of copies despite being a horribly written fan fic of a horribly written fetish book. So, thus, the trend is to write horribly written fetish books. I highly recommend going back past Post-Modernism and just reading modernist era fiction and non-fiction. Though, you might like Star-ship Troopers.

It's not just literature. I'm sure even if you read academic papers, both the prose and depth of thought pale to something written 50 years prior, despite all the talk of people living earlier being quaint and uneducated. There's this notion that everything gets better as time goes on.

Academic papers have stayed roughly the same.

They have to follow a format depending on the research paper. If I'm writing a dissertation then I have a rather sizable review board (predictably) want changes and critic my paper and this is all to make sure that my paper in legible enough for a international community. If I'm writing a research paper then I have to write in APA format so I can give a synopsis of my research paper at the beginning and then give an in-depth analysis of my research while referencing other sources to back my evidence. These styles were all deciding by an academic society that wanted one style of paper over the thousands that were presented to them. If you're curious, google Emile Durkhiem, he pioneered research papers and sociological papers to the main world.

Life cannot simply be something to cling to. This thought skims through everyone at least once. We have a possibility that makes us freer than the gods: we can quit. This is an idea to be savoured to the end. Nothing and no one is obliging us to live. Not even death. For that reason our life is a tabula rasa, a slate on which nothing has been written, so contains all the words possible. With such freedom, we cannot live as slaves. Slavery is for those who are condemned to live, those constrained to eternity, not for us. For us there is the unknown---the unknown of spheres to be ventured into, unexplored thoughts, guarantees that explode, strangers to whom to offer a gift of life. The unknown of a world where one might finally be able to give away one’s excess self love. Risk too. The risk of brutality and fear. The risk of finally staring mal de vivre in the face. All this is encountered by anyone who decides to put an end to the job of existing.

Our contemporaries seem to live by jobbing, desperately juggling with a thousand obligations including the saddest of all of them---enjoying themselves. They cover up the incapacity to determine their own lives with detailed frenetic activity, the speed that accompanies increasingly passive ways of behaving. They are unaware of the lightness of the negative.

We can choose not to live. That is the most beautiful reason for opening oneself up to life with joy. ‘There is always time to put an end to things; one might as well rebel and play’---is how the materialism of joy talks.

We can choose not to act, and that is the most beautiful reason for acting. We bear within ourselves the potency of all the acts we are capable of, and no boss will ever be able to deprive us of the possibility of saying no. What we are and what we want begins with a no. From it is born the only reason for getting up in the morning. From it is born the only reason for going armed to the assault of an order that is suffocating us.

On the one hand there is the existent, with its habits and certainties. And of certainty, that social poison, one can die.

On the other hand there is insurrection, the unknown bursting into the life of all. The possible beginning of an exaggerated practice of freedom.

Is this better?

> Should one kill oneself? Killing oneself, though, implies some sense of resistance: one must possess a value that one can destroy. Where there is nothing, the destructive actions themselves crumble to nothing. You cannot hurl a void into a void. "If only a rock would fall and kill me," wrote Kierkegaard, "at least that would be an expedient." I doubt if there is anyone today who has not been touched by the horror of a thought such as that. Inertia is the surest killer, the inertia of people who settle for senility at eighteen, plunging eight hours a day into degrading work and feeding on ideologies. Beneath the miserable tinsel of the spectacle there are only gaunt figures yearning for, yet dreading, Kierkegaard's "expedient," so that they might never again have to desire what they dread and dread what they desire.

Killing yourself will not end suffering, the true suffering would start after that. Being love sick is tough, but killing oneself over it is just petty tbh. No one likes me, I am so bad, I wish others would notice me etcpp, it goes on and on. Instead of obsessing over that you should rethink the terrible life choices you've made and adjust them to reality.

>>13096

>Hating me is reasonable. Liking me is imbecilic.
