That seems more like a bug than intentional though.

The board meeting triggers if you're in the room when they arrive, but considers you late if you walk in after them.

The game also considers you late and re-triggers the meeting as if you were after you attend the meeting and get teleported to your office for the tutorial.

If you were late to the initial meeting though then when you leave after the meeting it triggers the meeting as if a week has passed and you haven't fulfilled their request.

If you want to ignore the council bullshit entirely just hit skip intro in the very beginning. You can still toggle the traits before the game starts, but the council isn't there and you don't have any time limits for objectives or requests.

This beast still gives coredump. I haven't been experiencing coredump since the 90's on linux.

I still think, this is technically an inferior programming environment, and an overkill for a text based software.
