I hoped someone other than me would post, since I'm just getting into it, but since no one did…
>What are some good resources for starting to use basic makeup?
Youtube videos. Maybe fashion blogs if you're into some specific kind of look.
But the basic concept is getting an even skin tone (with foundation), setting it with powder to get a nice face-canvas, then doing stuff with other things, like countouring, applying blush, mascara and eyeliner and eyeshadow - though those things tend to be increasingly less discrete if your intention is everyday use. Not that you can't apply super discrete natural light brown eyeliner to do some nice things, but I guess it takes a little bit of skill not too fuck it up and be too obvious.
>I don't like the way it looks.
There is a trick where you pick something with an opposite color of the shadow (people normally use orange, as the shadow is blueish) and use it to counteract the color and have even toned skin. Your best bet is searching crossplayer or crossdresser or mtf makeup tutorials on youtube.
I'm pretty sure it works but never tried it and don't quite know how to do it. I do know that just basic foundation won't do it, you'll just get pretty even toned skin with beard shadow still. Get laser already.
