All of the above. Takes a load of time / energy / effort along with special snowflake genetics.

And yes those who base their value on this and self worth on beauty inevitably hit a pretty devastating wall or serious crisis of confidence when it inevitably comes tumbling down with age.

My unsolicited advice OP: be grateful for the body you have, that it functions as well as it does, and if you want to change, then there are some things you can do. But going to the extreme for something temporary like this is just gonna result in suicidal levels of disappointment.

If I bleached my hair and let it grow a bit longer I'd probably look very similar to that. I think a lot of it has to do with genetics though, since I'm 21 but everyone seems to think I'm still in high school.

People talk about how photoshopped Frank Wolf was, but whenever someone posts one of his "ugly" unphotoshopped pictures, he still looks fucking beautiful.

His real advantages were youth, genes, and hygiene/fitness + makeup. It really should be emphasized that being skinny/fit makes you look younger. A person doesn't necessarily think when they look in the mirror "gee, my face would look so much better and younger if I were less fat," but somehow unless you're straight-up cokey skin-on-bone-level thin, then your excess fat is making you look older.
