Used to paint my fingernails for quite a while. Red, cos it's slutty, and a colour men really aren't supposed to wear.
Didn't take proper care though, should've removed and re-painted them, sometimes I did, sometimes just let 'em flake off. I'm such an old tramp. Mind, I have female friends who do the same.

Could just be shitty polish then. The cheaper stuff will usually chip quicker, moreso if you aren't using a top coat, but it's different if it already looked bad to begin with. Did it come on smooth/evenly, and did you let it dry properly? How old is it in the picture?

Is it lumpy in the bottle, or only when you put it on? You may just have too much on the brush while you're applying it.
If it's actually lumpy in the bottle there's a couple things you could do that might thin it out. Try shaking the bottle a bit while it's upside down, then roll the bottle around in your hands for a few minutes.

How do you foot guys prevent ingrown nails? I always get them really bad on my toenails, especially when they've been painted for a while. Right now they're mostly better from just chopping the nail all the way down the sides.
