VENTURE BROS RETURNS SUMMER 2018

http://archive.is/tSJYh

>Adult Swim has confirmed that its beloved adventure series spoof/ongoing examination of failure and sadness, The Venture Bros., will be coming back sooner than expected. Per Forbes, the network responded to recent questions about the show’s return by stating that it’ll be back this summer, coming as something of a surprise for fans who’ve been waiting eagerly for any kind of news about when the title Bros. might next appear.

>It’s been more than two years since we last checked in with Hank, Dean, Rusty, Brock, and the rest of the deluded, costumed man-children who make up their universe, with 2016's sixth season feeling both weirdly short, and also more heavily invested in the serialized storytelling elements that have always lurked in the back of the show’s DNA. This new information, meanwhile, comes in the aftermath of a recent interview with Chris Prynoski, whose Titmouse Studios handles the animation duties on the series. Prynoski was apparently tight-lipped about when the series might be making its way back to TV, but Adult Swim was a lot more open, responding to inquiries with a straightforward summer 2018 date. (And while this all feels a little roundabout, series creator Jackson Publick retweeted the Forbes piece quoting this potential return, which feels like pretty strong confirmation that the show will soon be back.)

Congrats but this and ATHF getting more than 7 seasons still won't ease the pain caused by the fact that this will never get a Season 3.

I'm still holding hope one day they'll at least make a 2 hour movie or something, I mean somehow Jack got his ending right?I just want Fitz to get his.

That's great news. Original estimates and hints pointed at fall this year. Unless by return, they mean a movie, and then series will actually kick off in the fall. Hopefully the series won't decay in quality. Last season was a mixed bag, but there were no horrible episodes, just a few mediocre ones.

>It’s been more than two years since we last checked in with Hank, Dean, Rusty, Brock, and the rest of the deluded, costumed man-children who make up their universe

Time flies. Hopefully this time 'we will check in' with Dr. Morpheus as well.

Other than the name, character was rather neutral from what I remember. Based off of name and color scheme, it is obvious which side Radical Left might be used to lampoon.

If past track record is anything to go off of, I doubt that show will have much current day politics, if any. On few occasions that there was 'political' humor, it was about political and ideological figures from the past. But who knows. Pryonski went from reasonable person who made mildly 'problematic content' to a raging SJW. And Titmouse is his studio.

 No.997001

I hope they will put together another Operation PROM caliber ep. The last season was kinda… empty? Like, yes they finally brought back the Monarch's parents storyline, but besides that many character were missing, or left behind with their stories. For example: Dermott's reveal

We already know they're setting up for failure. Doc doesn't know how to properly run a company in a modern setting, he still thinks it's like the 60s or 70s where you make something grand and show it off. He fired almost all the employees at the company and the board of directors, he can barely make a new gadget to sell for military investors.

I bet you Season 7 is probably gonna open with them moving back to the old compound after they fucked up too much in NYC.

First episode was great, as good if not better than the best of the previous season. Since it ends with a cliffhanger, I could not help myself, but went ahead and watched the second one. It was very good too, and it actually moved plot along instead of simply being 'and while Rust was dealing with his shit, this is what happened with Monarch.' Status Que got shaken up again, and this one might actually be the last season with how many revelations and reappearances there were in the first two episodes alone.

Manstrong said one of the crew member during the Movie Night snapped and opened the bay door. Red Death said it wasn't their team. People say it must be Jonas who found out about the hostage take over and tried to kill the guild infiltrators, but would be he so careless to blow up his own body?

Side note, what if Doc Hammer & Jackson Publick had made a "regular" adventure show?

Maybe the Venture Bros is about how they wanted to make a classical show but hate themselves too much to do it. So they made Venture Bros . I mean, it's obvious they know the tropes inside and out. And love them . who am I kidding? no studio would fund them if they did that

Side side note: I'm a bit disappointment it's been two seasons since Rusty's done anything sciency. It's like he ran out of super-science juice or something. Maybe he'll get to building some abomination again this season.

Morpho deserves his revenge Venture deserves to die, and the wife should have been killed for cheating.

Beta Soy comic writerz and animators are ruining everything.

If any thing there are 3 lesson a normal person can take away from this.

1. Never allow your self to be blackmailed no matter the consequences. By coming clean you take their power away and put it into your hands.

2. Always have a Paternity test before signing any papers that legal bind father hood to you.

3. Fuck any weak statements that the greatest revenge is success. True classic revenge is always payed in blood, and is done on principle to the offending party, even if it would be easier for you to let them walk. Because it sends a message to everyone else to think twice before being unethical.

Jonas Venture was always a dick and a poon hound. This kind of behavior is right up his alley.

He allowed his teammates to torture his son, relentlessly and was constantly screwing other men's wives. Why would he draw the line at Morpho's wife?

The only vaguely SJW thing so far this season was when Dean told his dad he was mansplaining, and immediately got shut down when Rusty said he was actually "science-splaining."

In other words, "Shut the fuck up with your emotion-based pussy-logic bullshit, Dean; science is fact." And that's the last we've heard about that.

Plus it was just an implication which 95% of the time just a red herring in the show. As far as i understand the Morpho was sterill or something; so he asked for Jonas help to get a child. I read a pretty good theory which says Jonas might used Morpho's wife as a guine pig for his cloning project. And JJ was the clone (a defected one), but Rusty nearly cannibalized him. This would make Malcom Morpho's real kid.

Otherwise why would Blue freak out about the tape if he know that his wife cheated on him? That would make no sense at all! The guy didn't acted like his wife was a slut.

>Jonas offered "fertility treatments" for Morpho's wife, and then probably raped her while she was unconscious or something.

For fuck's sake…

Rape? Really? There are some subjects I don't think they'd touch in a Cartoon Network series that, at the end of the day, is still supposed to be mostly comedic.

They got close with Rusty impregnating a very willing girl who he didn't realize was underage, and there was that early gag where Dr. Girlfriend offered herself up to Brock in the cocoon on the (hopeful) assumption that he was there to ravish the enemy, but when he promptly declined she was like, "Well, I'm not gonna beg."

But flat out drugging and raping an unconscious woman? You're fucking crazy. The official villains wouldn't even do it.

I think it's far more likely that her husband sent her to Jonas for the 'fertility treatments,' Jonas told her, "Real talk: Your husband is shooting blanks, but I'm firing live tank rounds, so hows about we…" and she fucked him so she could have a child.

Jonas was a complete dick… a trait which, (in)famously, does NOT stop women from hopping into bed with a guy, especially when that guy is a rich, handsome, muscular, hung, super-genius.

Add to that the fact that she was obviously very upset over their repeated failure to have a child and I have little doubt that she would have let Jonas give her the big, hot, 'injection' she needed to get the baby she so badly desired.

The real question is whether Jonas was being an ignorant dinosaur when he said infertility was "almost never the fella" or it was just part of him selling Morpho the idea of handing over his wife for an "examination.'

"Rape.." sheesh.

A far more likely event is either Dean unintentionally stealing Hank's girlfriend because she starts liking him more, or Hank getting jealous of the time Sirena spends with Dean at school, and then fucking up his own relationship with her by acting the jealous bitch.

Which would be a shame because Sirena seems pretty into Hank, despite his weirdness, and the Ventures have been shit on enough in their love lives.

Rusty is a jerk with some screwed up morals but his actions are rarely malicious. Jonas Sr on the other hand has been shown constantly as a bully and borderline sociopath. In fact, it's pretty clear that the sole reason Rusty has such a lack of morality is because of how he was raised by Jonas.

 No.1018905

>>1018881

Exactly, most of Rusty fuck ups come from incompetence and dense stupidity. The worst thing he ever done was when he let a kid teared apart by a gorilla. He kinda "redeemed" himself when he cloned the kid and fixed his genom. He acted pretty mature even during the Niki "accident", when he offered to bare the consequence and marry her in the legal age. Of course, Niki's mom had good points too. The shame would probably would destroy both of them. (and the media outrage if it's ever goes public) In my book Rusty barely as evil as Jonas.

Meanwhile Jonas murdered people and kids, abused his own kid, and as we learned trough the seasons he was a shit for a friend (blackmail Morpho, taking Kano as a slave, drugging the Action Man into a psychopath). Hell even his own team of assholes got feed up with his bullshits. No wonder they didn't gave a flying fuck to check on his severed head.

>>1018660

I think this whole "rape and impregnated her" thing is a big red herring. I think the whole thing will turn out that he didn't had the technollogy for clone vats, so he used surrogate mothers for cloning in the very beginning. Ergo the Monarch's mom was a guine pig.

Fetiform teratomas aren't a clone thing. For one, plenty of real people have them (they just don't function as, uh, people, like JJ), and neither Hank nor Dean have them despite being clones.

The reason Ben was checking Dean for signs of a teratoma was because Rusty had one, and therefor Dean, as someone genetically descended from Rusty, would be more likely to also have one.

In defense of James Bond and Sean Connery, the Walther LP-53 air pistol wasn't actually used in the movie. It was used in a publicity photo shoot because someone failed to bring the PPK prop gun. It belonged to the photographer (and is now worth a shitload of money).

It's at least a cool thing to have , dunno about it being art tho. There's far worse things than that masquerading as art.

Fun fact: it wasn't meant to decay, but it did because the initial preservation was done poorly. Then it was replaced by another one.

>Because the shark was initially preserved poorly, it began to deteriorate and the surrounding liquid grew murky. Hirst attributes some of the decay to the fact that the Saatchi Gallery had added bleach to it.[7] In 1993 the gallery gutted the shark and stretched its skin over a fiberglass mold, and Hirst commented, "It didn't look as frightening … You could tell it wasn't real. It had no weight."[7] When Hirst learned of Saatchi's impending sale of the work to Cohen, he offered to replace the shark, an operation which Cohen then funded, calling the expense "inconsequential" (the formaldehyde process alone cost around $100,000).[7] Another shark was caught off Queensland (a female aged about 25–30 years, equivalent to middle age) and shipped to Hirst in a 2-month journey.[7]

IMHO Saint Cloud can't really hold an episode as a protagonist. I found the secondary plot with guild stranger and the osi agent more enjoyable. Dr Z's bad cop routine was hilarious.

Augustus is Newman. You don't wanna emphasise with him, show his daily rut or put him in a position that elicits pity or identifies him with the viewer. The awkwardness of his life should only be hinted at. He works best as a weird stumbling block to some relatable protagonist's struggle, devilish, self-assured and proud, pathetic only as an afterthought. His struggle is not relatable because he was never meant to be relatable. As the Monarch is put into real-life situations, he breaks out of his persona. Underneath it all, we get his struggle. Augustus, by contrast, falls flat. He's only persona. Doesn't help that his voice can only convey one emotion.

Augustus at his best was stealing the red ball, forcing Billy eat the pennies, or making Rusty suffer at Spanikopita. Here he's just … meh. You don't make Newman the protagonist.

Weird to have one that barely had Hank and Dean in it.

Rose threatening to beat the living shit out of St. Cloud "…until my arthritis kicks in…" was the best part. It's funny just on face value, but then you also realize she delivered her threat line a million times better than St. Cloud did, and without even trying.

The Monarch and Rusty Venture are two separate pregnancies. Otherwise Jonas Venture Jr would've remarked a 3rd embryo. Therefore if Monarch and Rusty Venture are the same age, then she couldn't have cheated.

In The Inamorata Consequence, Dean mentions he was born in a test tube and red HELPER bot (owned by the genetic engineer) concurs and falsly misidentifies Dean as Rusty at the end of the visit. This also means that Rusty Venture was also born artificially or at least cloned.

The absolute best case is that during the fertility check up, Jonas took an egg cell and used a surrogate. Meanwhile Blue Morpho and his wife naturally made The Monarch.

 No.1022578

We wont know how much was real and how much was virtual reality until they show us. One thing I'm certain of, it wont be told in the next episode. My betting money is on the next episode being about the boys and possibly the Serena love triangle coming to a head.

One thing that has stuck with me is the writers seem to be going with a theme. Dr Venture and the Monarch seem to be two sides of the same coin. Both are viewed as incredibly silly/inept at their respective villain/super scientist roles, but have their moments of success and glory. What was interesting is that in season 3 when Monarch wasn't arching Dr. Venture, Killinger made moves to have Dr. Venture arch JJ. Maybe that was to keep with the old Cain and Abel thing we now know was there from the beginning with Monarch and Dr. Venture.

It's been hinted and outright speculated multiple times in the show that either Hank or Dean will end up becoming a villain. It will be interesting if this season follows through with that promise, or if the brotherly love between them can overcome what seems to be destint, or if Dr. Venture just slaps them both until they both apologize for whatever the rift is and be friends again.

Never mind. Think I found him looking over Rusty's shoulder . Still, I don't know believe, real or fake, given that the OSI conveniently took his head "for science" .

 No.1022677

>>1022580

Oh yeah, heist was real. The party is obviously fake, but the question is if the council and Rusty joining them is fake or not.

Jonas Sr. being a member is a bit suspect for a number of reasons. On one hand he should be dead, but that can be super science explained away by OSI getting his brain. Another reason, that even though he was a jackass who cared very little about others and straight up left kids to die in a nerve gas bunker, I still dont think he'd condone "orphan sashimi". Hell Rusty straight up used an orphan's soul to make an ultimate pleasure room and was still disgusted with the idea of cannabalism.

Then theres the idea that Jonas would hand over his personal authority to a council. He's a headstrong overconfident asshole, you think he would be strong armed into giving authority over to a council of random rich jackasses. The only way this makes sense is if Jonas Venture himself formed the council. Possibly after the HELPER recall and he realized that people as a whole dont want their lives to be super easy so they fight against it.

Possibly how he had enough clout to work the first guild treaty and make it pretty favorable to the "protagonist" side. He had the resources and ability to stamp out any all "evil" guys, but let them coalesce into the guild so they are easier to keep tabs on and deal with than random ones just popping up.

It would be interesting to know if the Investors were for or against the secret council. It could be why JJ had to go to them to build Gargantua 2. Notice they mention he gave up on super science once he worked on his apps. Maybe he had invented something like the teleporter (the nanomachines?) and ran up against the council, they threatened his family so he gave it up, and instead started working on gargantua 2 so he could super science away from the council's eyes and ears (refusing OSI protection).

Really the secret council makes a shit ton of sense, have a spy in the form of a bodyguard by everyone who could possibly shake the status quo, and then when any get something really good, you take it out before it can fuck anything up. Also would make sense why Brock and Sandow would be ordered to kill their charge if they ever activated orb, because it would be the ultimate game changer.

Assuming Rusty is a clone, this does make a bit of sense.

We know that Jonas Sr. did implant some cybernetic hardware into Rusty, which we see by him pulling out one of his teeth equipped with a tracker in college.

Jonas tough, he wouldn't just waste an opportunity to fuck someone over behind their back by just implanting some shitty bug.

We also know that he had the technology for human brain interfacing since the late 70's since Venturion. Also looking back on how the Venture bros memory backup's are on reel-to-reel, seeing how Rusty's just rebadging his dad's tech all the time,

the OSI having some shitty version of pre-cogs giving the V,

that moment with OG H.E.L.P.eR, Brisbee/Nazis/Gary or whoever demanding to use it, his cloning shit pretty much Jonas' tech, thus his clone brain must be similarly wired up like Hank and Dean's.

Putting it together means there was the possibility that Jonas attempted to telepathically tell Rusty to fix G1 and by extension himself, until he popped some diet pills which would inhibit that P.R.O.B.L.E.M induced hallucination.

That would also explain why Rusty's embarrassingly shit at his job, JJ (re-)developed later which excludes his brain from any fucking around by Jonas Sr.

Now this is some big autism if true.

Rusty never left that room, he's wearing the same clothes in the last scene as the one where he entered the room. He either knows it's a simulation or doesn't, if he does, he wouldn't be playing along and if he doesn't, at what point did they get the headset on him without him noticing? The answer would be, between when it cut to black and before the screens appeared. I don't think they'd have all those powerful people's perfect voice and likeness and I don't think they can just summon them at the drop of a hat to throw a show for old Rusty so that's why I think it's a dreamlike state with it all in Rusty's head which is why I called it hypno-VR.

He ends up in a young Red Death's crew and causes the Gargantua 1 movie night incident. Supposedly.

If what you're saying is right, that means Billy's dad was that big-headed freak from the future Brainulo. He probably cornholed Triple Threat a la Purple Man while she was brainwashed. Hell even Billy says Brainulo is his favorite villain. Does this mean Brainulo is his own ancestor?

Not necessarily. It's a real disease:

Although much more severe than just "having a big head".

 No.1026857

>>1026688

It is a real disease but Billy clearly seems to be healthy, (somewhat) super intelligent, and his head does not impair him at all, much like Brainulo who (in his youth) could get around with his massive head on his skinny body with no real issue, much like Billy. Billy's claim of having hydrocephalus could be due to ignorance of his parentage and the doctors misdiagnosed him due to obviously not being aware of 30th century biology. Either that or in the world of Venture Bros, Hydrocephalus actually does make you super smart.

In "Tag Sale, You're It" Billy himself confirms the diagnosis of hydrocephalus, and also says that it might contribute to his extreme intelligence. This being back in season one, I doubt DH or JP had planned so far in advance, and are just writing around what they have.

 No.1027156

>>1027127

Again, I mentioned that Billy's diagnosis was probably just one based on ignorance of Brainulo's biology. I mean doctors initially thought Rusty's parasitic twin was a tumor. Also yes, its likely Billy just had hydrocephalus early on, but it was likely retconned, much like how they retconned Colonel Gentleman's death, among other things as the story moves forward.

Saying this because I feel someone has to now that timetravel is on the table. Scarebear is Hank or Dean time displaced, of course only thing I have for this is him showing up to fuck with Dean during his internship and knowing Hank needed help in the blizzard while also knowing Sireena is double timing on the campus in some sort of crazy self repeating loop.

That or someone completely new but I felt the need to vent this.

Alright, let's autism into this:

Hydrocephalus means more water around the brain. While whatever 30 century anatomy Brainulo might have would mean a bigger brain. So Billy, being the medical genius that he is, could find out his anatomy is not exactly human, if he ever bothered to self-check his diagnosis.

So we know that Dr Venture and The Monarch are blood relatives, finally. Gives a whole new meaning to the show's title. It doesn't clarify who is a clone of who, or who was born to whom, but at least they are making headway.

I'm legit disappointed Scare Bear was not unmasked, but it was a fun episode all around regardless. And I'd rank Gary much higher than an EMA Level 4, at least a 6 given his prior experience with the Monarch and Sphinx.

Great action scenes for Brock, those were definitely lacking this season. I'd like some explanation as to how the Guild got the recipient teleporter into Venture's closet.

They already established doc venture as a clone when Dean went to the shack at the edge of the compound during the treaty.

They established that Jonas Venture the first knocked up the Blue Morphos wife and made the Monarch.

Way back there was the picture of Rusty and Malcom playing together as kids, before the plane crash.

Monarch is the son of Jonas Venture and Blue Morpho's wife. Rusty is, presumably, the clone of Jonas.

It should've ended a while back. Everything good knows when to end, otherwise it becomes the Simpsons, Spongebob or capeshit. Do you want such a horrible fate upon VB? Its best we get things over with and get closure before its too late.

As for the whole clone thing. Its obvious that Rusty as a kid was as accident prone as Hank and Dean. Hell, Team Venture would torture him in all manner of sick ways and he'd get taken hostage on a regular basis, and that's not even counting how the Action Man would wake him up with a gun to his face (the guy is trigger happy as fuck). Not to mention the possible suicidal depression. Also Rusty's inventions are mostly handmedowns from his dad, so it would make sense that his cloning facilities were made by his dad to keep him cloned/"alive". The original Rusty however may actually be Jonas's biological son since his eyebrows hair color and hair shape are different from the Monarch's as a child, either that or they just say he's a failed clone or something. But all this just raises odd questions about Jonas Venture Jr. (fuck that little midget honestly) and Rusty's womb dreams. Also how come Race Bannon exists yet Johnny Quest is called Action Johnny and is notably older looking than Race? Not to mention his arch having a different name.

But fuck all of that. I just want to know what Venture did to the Monarch to piss him off.

They're moving into endgame territory (Hank's mom was mentioned, that Jonas thing at the beginning). IMHO they should end in 1, maybe 2 shorter seasons at most. Probably with Jonas as big bad since we all saw this coming years ago. I hope they don't overmilk it. Venture bros doesn't deserve such a fate.

Legal problems, believe it or not. Because the creators realized that Cartoon Network owned Johnny Quest, they decided to use him and show what the fuck would happen if a kid like Johnny existed. CN caught wind of it and told the creators to not to fuck with the JQ property, which is why they changed the kid's name from Johnny to Action Johnny. Race Bannon became Red and Dr. Zin became Dr. Z.

Mind you, they're still Johnny Quest and the rest, they just legally can't call them that.

No, but it could never happen because of how the show is written and how much control Doc and Jackson have over it.

I honestly thought Season 6 was a sign they were running out of steam but this season blew all of my expectations away.

Still, I doubt we will get much more beyond this. I expect the show to end at Season 9.

I just want him to say that he's angry at Rusty for making fun of his eyebrows. It would make perfect sense. The Monarch has a short fuse and Rusty wouldn't stop mocking the Monarch's eyebrows in college.

Exactly, yet many refuse to acknowledge this due to needless sentimentality. No TV show, comic or cartoon has ever been able to air for an incredibly extended period without eventually becoming stale and falling to decay. Without even bringing up obvious targets like Spongebob and Simpsons, even Sesame Street is a far cry from what it was. Same is true for animu IPs. Only show on Earth that has consistently been able to run for 49 years while using the same formula and maintaining the same ratings is Japan's Sazae-san, but that's more of a cultural thing and it was dull from the beginning so it never had much to lose.
