>Earth's "Mightiest" Heroes

>always having to get bailed out by Deus Ex Machinas or the manifestation of some MacGuffin force they had little to do with (like that time Rick Jones singlehandedly got the Kree-Skrull War off of Earth)

I'm starting to think that the Avengers are one of the weakest superhero teams in existence.

So like most of Marvels heroes? At this point almost any hero is part of the Avengers

Or the Avengers that are secret

Or the Avengers for California

Or the evil Avengers

Even in the early issues, plots were usually resolved by Thor or Iron Man pulling some new ability out of their ass.

At least in those issues the story was self-contained, and you didn't read a 6-month arc before the asspull.

Yes, that's– that's kind of the point.

I don't read comics often, but on the topic of power levels: Wasn't the civil war kicked off by one of the young avengers (a bubble boy or something) going fucking nuclear? Isn't power like that even enough to kinda compete in the marvel universe?

>Wasn't the civil war kicked off by one of the young avengers (a bubble boy or something) going fucking nuclear?

no, it was a juvie super hero team wasting time to set up publicity and the villain who had the ability to explode, took it and wiped out a school or somthing

>>995583

They've almost always been that yes? F4, X-Men and the like are all higher trouble shooters

I believe that it was speedball and his team of retards who decided to take on a villain who could go nuclear. They did so in a residential area that was next to a school or it might have been right at a school. Either way, he went nuclear and killed a fuckload of people.

New Warriors were fighting Nitro, and Namorita literally tackled the supervillain whose power is to explode, into a school bus.

Welcome to stagnant brand comicbook storytelling, I'm also waiting for DC to show us what for with that Doomsday Clock event that shoves the Watchmen characters even more to our collective throats, I really don't think it matters when the comics are just there to show us some stupid story that's been retold over and over for movie ideas and more merchandising.

This is a bit off topic. I'm not sure where my copy of the first civil war is, but I do remember one of the heroes getting his skin fried. Like, he tries to block some other hero's flame attack and gets flash fried. One would expect people to get burnt up when they mess with fire, but usually the hero or one of the heroes gets away with maybe just getting blasted away. That was the first time that I can remember where that happened and it wasn't someone like wolverine who could just regenerate the damage.

 No.995728

Well, it's only a little worse than Justice League BATMAN WINS LOL.

Sounds like a good excuse to pull up the back-issues, how many times have The Avengers won without a Thor/Iron Man ass-pull?

Sure.

When they're written by the British.

The Brit wave pretty much ruined American comics

Speedball from the teen team survives because of his "Kinetic field" and gets blasted 500 miles away.

He then dons a suit that has a needle for each victim on the inside and 60 that always pierce his skin.

Speedball had a hard life.

Wolverine also gets in a fight with Nitro and gets blasted.

Still makes no sense for him to survive that but somehow drowning can kill him for good.

Everything about Civil War was such a shit show. Marvel has been marching down a bad road for decades, but that really set them into overdrive.
