Interestingly enough, this year European comics have surprisingly strong presence. It also looks like there is many fewer book this year than in the previous ones.

The 2000AD and Fantagraphics books have my attention. I might pick up the two Marvel books just for the hell of it, and maybe that GITS anthology preview.

Hard to say. I imagine most people just see FCBD as a chance to snatch up free comics for their kids.

Is Free Comic Book Day something any company willing to foot the bill for creating+publishing the comic distribute comics via? Is there anything (except the shit sale of comics in general) stopping a company from making a comic that's literally an ad for their product and offering it as a free comic book day product?

Isn't that was most free comic book day books are, or are you talking about actual advertising comics like Hostess Fruit Pie or Tandy Computer did way back? I don't think there is a barrier that stops you from participating, except the cost you take from making the comic free. If there is some kind of quality control, I haven't seen it in years. That Lady Gaga comic was serial killer fuel when I read it.

Grabbed the Nintendo's ARMS and unfortunately Korra comic, World's Greatest Cartoonists and Barrier. And brought some other stuff at a discount.

The comics of FCBD are basically

The only thing that can really "limit" a publishers potential audience to a FCBD is mature/violent content. I know my CBS's does a check of the FCBD issues for content before sorting them to their suggested audience tables, a year or two ago managed to grab some gory comic they didn't want to put out (I assume they don't want kids grabbing it by mistake) before the day's leading up to the Saturday.

Is your question mark button broken, Anon? The ARMS special short story is in the same comic as the The Legend of Korra one (strangely Dark Horse didn't do one of 2 in 1 flipable double sided comics like in past FCBD's). Also been revealed that ARMS graphic novel has been delayed, stretching its release to Jan 2019.

The Splatoon manga is already out (from Viz Media).
