This adaptation sure benefited by a dash of Hollywood, it really improves the story and balances the jadedness from the comic.

 No.990139

at least gives red mist some character

 No.990202

The movie is great because it takes every opportunity to shit on Mark Millar's edgy garbage writing. Watching a movie roast its source material is absolutely delightful.

 No.990208

You never straight-up adapt a Mark Millar comic to film.

The first Kick Ass film was great because the characters actually were who they wanted to be. Kick Ass was a hero and got the girl, Big Daddy actually was a hero with a tragic backstory and Hit Girl was much more capable and conscious of her actions without having to do fucking drugs. In the comic everybody is secretly a loser.

Kingsman and Wanted were loosely based on the source material and were better for it. As for Civil War, I actually preferred the comic. But that's because the film was a product of MCU mediocrity.

Please elaborate.

Sure, grab a 10 foot spoon, shove it up your ass and feed yourself.

>As for Civil War, I actually preferred the comic

The comic was fucking awful. Seriously, one of the worst events Marvel has published in the last twenty years. Was the film really that much worse?

 No.990265

>>990260

No, it wasn't. Even on release, even /co/ was saying how the best thing about the movie was completely scrapping the actual comic plot. I've literally only heard people ever claim the comic was better in the past 2 months. I suspect it's a bunch of faggots trying to brag about their nerd cred because they totally liked the original.

It was.

I also was really underwhelmed with the comic.

 No.990462

>>990429

>I also was really underwhelmed with the comic.

You might want to re-word that, can't tell if the comic or the movie is underwhelming.

 No.990472

it messed with the whole point of the comic though, with the silly jetpack and bazooka bit, and taking out the reveal that big daddy was just a comic collector nerd living a fantasy

then millar tried to alter the comic's sequels to match the movie, but made it even edgier (that part where red mist shoots all the kids in the face)

 No.990474

>>990260

At least the comic was bland, boring, and utterly forgettable.

Is this non-citizen serious?

 No.990605

>>990604

It is when the source material is dog shit.

 No.990678

I liked the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie. Not even trollin'

 No.990680

>>990137

I haven't paid attention to Kick Ass in years. I heard Red Mist raped Kick Ass' girl but I also heard a rumor he tried to rape Kick Ass too, is that true co?

 No.990682

Super is a way better adaptation of Kickass than the comic itself is.

 No.990686

>>990682

You have impeccable taste, but your logic hurts my autism.

 No.990747

>>990260

It isn't. Saying otherwise is some faggoty, rose-tinted hipster shit. That's not to say the movie is good, it isn't. Like most MCU movies it's bland and toothless with healthy coating of stupidity, but it wasn't the diarrhea bomb that the comic was. The movie doesn't vilify otherwise heroic characters for the sake of edge. There's no cloning heroes, working with villains, shitty gitmo analogizes, etc.

The Civil War movie was just a forgetful heroes vs heroes story. The Civil War comic is a bunch of hacks destroying long term characters to try to edge and grim up a world for short term attention.

 No.990770

>>990260

quick synopsis:

the conflict is now about the UN wanting to hold the avengers accountable for shit and under their thumb (needing permission to scramble instead of instant response to crisis, etc) instead of Mutant Registration Act 2.0

Tony's motivations are now rather petty and self-centered, and as a result much more relatable and not arbitrary shit

the winter soldier is revealed to have been under manchurian candidate-like control for years and killed Tony's parents, furthering Tony's self-centered and oddly not-shit motives

the villain is an interesting case, as he's a complete nobody. Just someone who had a lot of anger toward the Avengers over the Sokovia thing. If anything, he's the sort of character who suggests that anyone can be the bad guy with time, planning, effort, and an axe to grind

>Super

Isn't that the movie where the mc could have unfucked his shit but instead goes full cuck in the end.

 No.990816

>>990228

You should really just google "differences between Kickass film and book" but some examples include:

>In the book, a man is decapitated and he dog's severed head is put on his neck. In the movie, the villain scoffs at how stupid that would be to do.

>In the book, one of the heroes is raped by the villain. In the movie, the villain can't get erect and stomps out enraged and humiliated.

There are more, but that's enough spoonfeeding for now.

 No.990838

The main differences between the KickAss movie and comic are the fact that in the comic, it's a dark story about how his wish fulfillment of wanting to be a superhero ruins everything in his life. The movie takes an optimistic and fun approach to it, though the plot itself remains fairly unchanged.

>>990816

>>In the book, one of the heroes is raped by the villain. In the movie, the villain can't get erect and stomps out enraged and humiliated.

The thing that pissed me off was that they changed that because the actor who played the bad guy didn't like the fact that his evil bad guy character raped. Don't fucking play the bad guy if you don't like the idea that the character does bad things.

 No.990842

>>990838

Who gives a shit? The rape scene was fucking retarded.

 No.990846

>>990800

I'm sure this is Dave in the comic.

 No.990891

>>990838

> it's a dark story about how his wish fulfillment of wanting to be a superhero ruins everything in his life.

it was until the third one, where suddenly retcons up the ass and dave gets a hot perfect girlfriend out of nowhere then retires to become a cop

 No.990974

>>990208

>In the comic everybody is secretly a loser.

that was the whole point, yes. that's what was also great about it, it was a bunch of dorks who went full autismo and dressed up as heroes to relieve their autistic stress, and barely lived.

 No.990988

>>990974

that angle was pretty much dropped after the first volume though

 No.991017

Kick-Ass? More like Cuck-Ass

 No.991034

>>990842

Just because we hate the cunt in the comics and agree that she had it coming to her.

 No.991078

Starring: Ass-Cucking
