Wait for the petrodollar to collapse causing massive hyperinflation in the US. In the ensuing depression, we'll see a shift away from television and subscription services and towards global decentralized animation distribution platforms.

Oh christ, this is going to be one of those "Tezuka invented manga in 1948" things, isn't it? It'll gloss over the pre-Disney era in about 10 seconds, then credit Uncle Walt with everything.

Its hard not too, most eastern animation still follows the bambi design rules but yeah basically.

The basic outline for cute shit typically follows the bambi design sheet with a hint of Betty Boop. It was later adapted by Tezuka and copied by his fans. Basically moe is just one big game of telephone.

Animation is already flailing. Every show looks the same, quality animators are getting passed on in favor of friends of friends from university, and money is drying up due to low merchandise purchase.
Exactly the same shit was happening when Hanna-Barbera were producing 30 shows identical to each other. The market floods with shit, nothing really works save 1 or 2 good ideas (Scooby-Doo, Flintstones) then the rest dries up and good shit takes it's place when broadcasters want child audiences again.
Focus on streaming will probably help, as the creators get more leeway with how they produce their content, and broadcasters get a more consistent income.

I wasn't talking about East vs West so much as people getting credit for shit they shouldn't. A better example might have been "Stan Lee created Spiderman".
No doubt they're going to say that Adventure Time and Steven Universe are "groundbreaking animation" that "appeals to adults as well as children, a first in Western animation" as if The Simpsons never existed (or they'll try to somehow claim that The Simpsons is "not really animation" because it has a sitcom setup and no ongoing story).
They'll probably ignore the adult audience that used to watch the shorts of the 30's and 40's in cinemas before the film, because they have no idea that was ever a thing. They probably will also neglect to mention the WW2 American cartoons that were made to instruct military personell, likely having no idea such things ever existed.
Also when they "Western animation" they will mean "USA and Canada". British animation may get a cursory glance and anything not in English will be ignored entirely.

Honestly, this is worse than when HB was at it's most popular. It's not just that TV cartoons are terrible, its that Western animators simply do not have the skills or work ethic to make something that looks like American Tale or Black Cauldron.

You sound like one of those fags that wants to pay animators in "exposure".

Animators have more than enough exposure right now. The basic career path is
>Makes dumbass 1 min short on Youtube
>"Wow this is actually really good lol"
>Makes dumbass 1 min short on Youtube x 10, but with a Patreon account
>"Hey guys I'm going to stop posting for a while, I'm working on a movie!"

Barely. But really, this is likely to be little more than another puff piece for CN. Why have the people qualified to speak about the actual topic be guests when you can have ill-informed spokesmen do that? It's no different from the occasional comic book documentary that glosses over the nitty gritty parts.
>>989562
>its that American animators simply do not have the skills or work ethic to make something that looks like American Tale or Black Cauldron.
They don't have the skills because it's become costly to have them do the actual animating. Thus it's inefficient to hire and train new talent to do anything besides devising minimalist character designs and do storyboards for the Koreans.
