They picked possibly the worst story to adapt if they were trying to get a series started, according to Dorkin.

This actually is the end of the Eltingville Club, unless someone has some stories that I don't know about.

Eltingville was my life, circa 1980's.
Northwest Comix Collective was my life, circa 1990's, and yes, the indie fans were that bad. There was such a backlash to the Dark Age of superheroes that the indies suddenly polarised against superheroes even more violently than the Undergrounds had in their day.
The only comics you were allowed to read were Cerebus, Bone, Hate and Eightball, or you would be EXCOMMUNICATED.

So would they count as MGTOW or Incel? Apart from Jerry, of course.
No.988782
This could have been fun if it was Ed Edd Eddy /co/mic books flavored.
But the comic is nothing but ranting on top of ranting and more ranting. It's boring as shit.
Their dynamic is like South Park, but those guys actually did something interesting and entertaining. These faggots just sit in one place and do nothing, nothing but trash each other.

Which makes it the most accurate portrayal of nerds in all media.

That's the genius of it. It's perfect in its banality and cantankerousness.

So if it were a completely different comic? Maybe it hit too close to home for you.

This. It's the fan's eye view of Young Dan Pussey.
Having stuck my toe in the industry, I can tell you, Clowes and Dorkin both know enough about both fandom and the industry from bitter experience to make it actively painful to anyone who shares that experience.
