I like the ideas behind the plotline, but the writing and characterization is fucking cancerous garbage.
It all feels like placeholder dialogue, where they just wrote vague weak lines for where the script should go, upon redrafting. But then never got around to actually redrafting the lines.
Case and point, Tails' line here.

They hired level designers who didn't know how to design anything other than a straight line. I heard it was originally supposed to be a tie-in game for the movie, but when that didn't happen, they cut a lot of shit out and tried to make it into something else, but didn't have enough time so they cobble whatever was complete enough together into what we have now. This would explain why Chaos was in the game despite not doing a damn thing, and Infinite's lack of a boss fight as seen in an old screenshot.
