IDW is 95% licensed IPs. They have Star Trek, Star Wars, Back To The Future, Duck Tales, Ghostbusters, and the entirety of Hasbro, just to name a few. That's not even covering their archival comic strip collections or artist edition books, which they have a ton of.

IDW's held up by licensed stuff from different companies anyway, and they have imprints to diversify their output (Top Shelf, EuroComics,The Library of American Comics, etc). Image is less of a publisher and more of a skeleton crew that accepts and publishes whatever they can sell. Their own "imprints" (Kirkman's Skybound, Top Cow, Shadowline, McFarlane) might as well be mini-publishers since they do most of the real work for the titles under them.
Apparently there are some rumors about Avatar Press going under, considering there's no much on their plate besides another Uber series and an imprint (Boundless) that publishes comics with porn variant covers.

I mean, it only makes sense. It's just not for MLP. It's like having an artist who does art for 3rd person shooters and does a gritty art style. not bad for what it's good for.
