>>975327 is partially right. The rights are owned by Amblin Entertainment, and by extension, Amblin Partners, who also owns DreamWorks Pictures. The multi-year content deal, on the other hand, was made with DreamWorks Animation, which is owned by Universal Studios. Listen up, because this part right here is going to be important. On February 15, Universal Studios purchased a minority stake in Amblin Partners. This means that, while Universal can internationally distribute content made by Amblin Entertainment or DreamWorks Pictures, they and their subsidiaries, such as DreamWorks Animation, cannot create content based on any of Amblin Partners' intellectual properties, such as Small Soldiers. Thus, Small Soldiers is perfectly safe from Netflix's hands. And, even if there was going to be a cartoon based off of Small Soldiers, it would only be distributed by Universal/DreamWorks Animation and Netflix at worst, with sole creative control going to Amblin Television and Amblin Partners.
