This show is attempting to be a satire of a kid's show, except it is for kids. They had an episode where Black Friday was treated like a religious holiday and Starfire was shunned for not being a consumerist whore. In the end she fixes her ways by buing meaningless crap.
There was another episode which had a moral lesson that if you don't watch television your brain would rot and you'd literally turn into a zombie. Great lesson.

I watched the 2003 series back in the day, but now don't remember anything from it. I find the new take amusing and entertaining, and don't get all the hate. Some episodes are very bad though, but some are glorious (like Nose Mouth or The Colors of Raven).
As a kid, I've read the Transformers Marvel comics, and they were far superior than the original G1 tv-show (at least in the second half of the G1 comics). Still, when I saw the show's first two seasons in their original dubbing, I didn't complained how it ruined my childhood. No complaints either during the first Transformers-movie, because I was happy to see my old friends/heroes on the big screen.
Some time has to pass to see everything in an objective light. You have to rewatch the original TT and you'll see it's flaws - I know I have to do it in the near future. But still, TTG is a different genre for a different audience. It's like comparing the old G.I. Joe-cartoon to the live action movie - they are totally different, just the characters have the same name and some of their old characterisitics.
You can say that you find the animation ugly, or the jokes unfunny, but it's not an objective truth. For example, all of you praise Gumball, and I think that looks awful, and no matter how good it may be, the animation style prevents me from watching it. People have different tastes and they expect different things from a cartoon. I love TTG and I'm excited to see the movie, but I don't mind if you disagree. Maybe after rewatching the old series, I will hate this but I highly doubt it.

I never watched this show, but I never liked the original Teen Titans much either.
To be honest, most of the hobby boards like /co/, /mu/, and /tv/ are full of people who are so concerned about tastemaking and industry buzzwords, that they end up to stupid to recognize basic narratives.
Why do people hate this show? It should be obvious: the show is blatantly made by people who hated the original TT, hate all the fans of the original TT, and its narrative is intended to shove that hatred in your face repeatedly while you are watching it so you can know just how much the creators hate you for liking something they didn't make. It's no different from every other calarts/SJW reboot. It's meant to insult you and the show you liked, and when it gets the predicted, obvious reaction from doing it, they do what all good SJWs do and claim you're "fragile" for being annoyed at their obvious attempt to annoy you. Just look at the people in this thread who claim to like it. All of them have stated they didn't like the original show, and all of them are using the same "lolumadbro" routine to anybody who doesn't like it.
These are the kind of shows you are going to get from people who do not have the talent to tell an actual story, especially when the industry has been changed into a pay-to-play scheme for spoiled toffs.
