Indeed. Batman TAS was by far the best animated incarnation of Batman. However, the final season always had me mixed. The decline of Catwoman's character development was a disappointing element, as she went straight back to crime and discarding any growth she had. It would've made more sense if they had intended to do one more character arc from her, but they didn't. The New Adventures, which hardly has the same level of depth and beauty as TAS, just brought her back as an even worse and malicious character whose arc ended with her willing to commit murder and running off to france to become a crazy old cat lady, the same thing happened with a lot of characters and stories (especially Mr. Freeze despite that Sub-Zero was the perfect end for his character arc) to the point where TNA should've just been its own separate continuity. It even lacked the charming Noire-style and went with the same blocky designs Superman TAS was doing, and even though the animation did get cleaner, it now lacked the unique visual style that TAS possessed, although it would still deliver some beautifully animated scenes from time to time, as expected of the Japanese animation studio that worked on the show. Anyway, that was one of only two things that crumpled my jonathans in BTAS. The other was the Trial episode which basically de-humanized the more complex and humane villains in BTAS and superficialized their motives and reasons for becoming evil. Such as the Mad Hatter, who was presented as a murderous lunatic despite that his reasoning for taking Alice was motivated by rejection, misdirection, and betrayal, despite that he had done so much to try and use his inventions for good. He was a reject of society who was only trying to find where he belonged and someone who would accept him. It is as if they didn't want the audience to relate to the more recognizable villains anymore or see both sides of the situation, with the exception of the likes of Baby Doll and the Ventriloquist (lesser villains in the series overall), although I must say that TNA did an excellent job and recapturing the essence of TAS in the way they handled the Ventriloquist and gave proper closure to his story. And I'm not saying TNA was bad, it was more than great as a Batman series, just not a good sequel to TNA.

>There was also fans that hated Jashi purely because they hate shipping in general.
That's it for me at least. One, Jack had somebody waiting for him in the past already. Two, it was absolutely forced and worst of all, it was just a setup for the ending scene which was a shameless copy of Guren Laggan's ending. Three, Ashi was a shut in girl and Jack was 75. The father-daughter relationship they were setting up at first was a much more natural development. The last few episodes were pretty bad and as a lot of people commented, getting back to the past undid the future. It's still a better alternative than leaving them alone to fend against an unbeatable Aku but every character that waa not Jack was essentially written out of existence.
And all just to bastardize a mediocre anime's ending. Tartakovsky was never good when it came to closing plots. Everyone talks about the curse of never finishing his series but I shudder to think how he would have dealt with Symbionic Titan if he ended it.

No.988857

>So is this show actually consistently good?
It's pretty fun. The show is about Gaz Digzy, who plays a sport called "The Game" that was created by a benevolent god king that has ruled the world for millennia. She was once one of the best and most popular players, but a life of illicit sex and hard drugs has reduced her to a fat washed up has-been. Now she is stuck working with the shittiest and most hopeless team in the game and having to train them well enough so they can win a game.
The animation can be pretty low budget, as can be expected from an Adult Swim cartoon, and you notice certain animation shortcuts (some characters wear rollerblades, which makes it easier to animate them moving around.) But part of the reason for that seems to be so they can splurge on things like action scenes.

Also of note is that a cut scene would have confirmed the fates of some of them–there's a part with Devastator ripping open a bunker followed by a slam cut. Had it played out, Big D would have torn apart a number of S2s hiding inside, including that prissy little shit Red Alert
