I remember there being a few "villain redemption" episodes here and there.
But yeah, the Care Bears were way more merciful. That's one of the reasons I liked it. They were nice to everyone, even to the bad guys. That's a good message for kids.

The Purple Pieman seems like the clear winner of the "Have You Tried Not Being an Asshole Award" in these kind of cartoons. His mission in life isn't really antithetical to Shortcake and her friends. Tirek, Hydia, Coldherat, No Heart, Dark Heart & Shreeky, The Spirit, Murky & Lurky, The Dark Princess, and others like them wand to destroy love and happiness and color and things like that. Pieman just want's to make pies. I'm pretty sure SS would trade him some berries or outright just give them to him if he just asked.

Jem was good. Keeps up its pace throughout its run, manages to stay strong even after a time travel episode.
The antagonists are motivated by greed and jealousy while still being talented in their own right, and when they show up you know shits about to explode or something. They are actually pretty well realized characters by the end (there's a reason jem threads have their share of legit misfits fans)
Just stay away from the movie and comics

That it didn't. Still, The Care Bears were probably the biggest tenet of my childhood, so really, it's always been more of a personal nitpick than a legitimate problem.
Anyhoo, since we're on the subject of girl cartoons, Anyone remember a cartoon a bout a bunch of these princess that had different hair colors and I think maybe a prince or her brother that was secretly a wolf or some shit.
Anyone know what I'm talking about, or was it some weird fever dream?

Let's call it 'Template-Based Design' for the moment. It's actually really common and it seems to be a pretty successful tactic that worked for Carebears, Trolls, My Little Pony, He-Man, Barbie, and GI Joe: Take an aesthetically appealing base, something that looks good enough, then switch out a few details, change the color scheme, add a few accessories, and give it a unique symbol or name as the cherry on top.
MLP:FIM's shit is so simple and easily replicable that people are able to make fan-animations that are on par with the animation of the official products. But this sort of thing also worked for shit like Homestuck, Bleach, and Attack on Titan. A large cast of visually identical characters with only a few distinct traits tends to give audiences one or two characters that they can latch onto and claim as their favorites.
At any rate, I really liked the Care Bears as a kid. The cousins were my favorites, especially Brave Heart Lion, which was a small attempt to spice up the template-based designs, by added different-styled heads onto the identical body style that they used for every other character in the cartoon and the stuffed toys.

Because of models, back in the day artist got naked children pictures to practice anatomy in their drawings.
Now is not allowed and artist have to guess it from adult models, recently the author of Rurouni Kenshin got accused of having "cp" although the more detailed description it only refers to "Content regarding nude kids under 15". Depending on how anti-anime you are the way and intensity he was detained and how vague the description of the content is, varies, but for me is clear he was practicing some drawings but since the announcement of the Olympics the laws god harder.

Well, if he was just found with the same content he bought ever since the 90's then we find the artistic inspiration of Samura X's story of atonement and redemption, but if he bought them recently then is a massive case of hypocrisy since Kenshin always respected the law even if he didn't agree with it.

I grow increasingly disdainful of how sterilized shows for much older audiences have gotten when the penultimate little kids show had something like this in it.

What gets me is how tasteful and, well, mature it is. It's calculated in a good way, like it respects the audience enough for them to understand "going away" without completely rubbing it in. Compare that to other shows that rub their noses into things like sex and relationships through convoluted metaphors.
It's actually pretty graceful to me.
