Big Two are a bigger mess than before. Companies like IDW are digging up old IPs like GI JOE or Transformers to destroy. Some indie writers are infesting companies like locusts with their crazy politics. Even despite all this… there's gotta be some good stuff you've enjoy recently right? Doesn't even have to be the last comic you bought. Just whatever comic series you've genuinely enjoyed.
Lately, because of previously stated, I just read manga. But the last comic series that I really liked reading was Resident Alien. Even if it wasn't the greatest thing ever. It was interesting for what it was. Noir mysteries tend to do pretty well in comic format. Most of the time.

Harrow County was dumped somewhere on this board and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the Batman and Robin run with Dick and Damian pre nu52 a lot, even if I'd rate it average.

Also I liked the Luthor Strode series a lot. The art got really beautiful and unique by the end of it.

I started reading Locke and Key about halfway through its run and it still remains as one of my favorite comics. It genuinely does tension well and the twists and shock moments are handled with care, instead of being like a shitty TV show where they kill off a character for shock ratings.

Genuinely an excellent comic series. It's like someone put that vague notion of what capeshit comics are supposed to be like onto the page. Doesn't attempt to subvert and challenge all the cliches, but doesn't give you a hokey, cheesefest story either.

…and now I feel like a jackass because I had no idea that it was still running. Could have sworn it ended like 10 years ago. A quick search shows it did, but they picked it back up and dragged it out 52 issues from 2013 to 2018.
I'm reluctant to know, but how pozzed did they make it?

You can probably ignore him. The first time I storytimed it, someone called it SJW bullshit because Lady Liberty said she prioritizes saving women in the one story arc where she and Samaritan go on a date, despite Samaritan clearly taking great offense at the idea.

Last, as in most recent, would probably be Mech Cadet Yu. Artist is good at drawing monsters and people, but should put more effort into mechs and action.
Most recent one that I read, would probably be Alex Toth's Zorro. Book is over 50 years old, but print quality and limited color palette are the only thing that makes it look dated. Unfortunately, I was not able to find black and white copy anywhere, but it looks much better than the colored version.
I read The Crow at the same time as Zorro, and it was pretty good. I went in with no expectations after bring disappointed with a few other 'good' 90s comics, and was pleasantly surprised. Varying art quality between arcs can get jarring, but luckily most of it is good.

I remember when they found the key that changes people from white to black for no other reason but to make 'brave' racial talking points with the subtlety of an Ebola outbreak. It came out of nowhere, was completely unnecessary and took me out of the story.

You can really see how much Frank Miller ripped off Alex Toth to create the Sin City style. He copied the Flat planes of black and white but little of the Wally Wood-like fine linework.
And Jose Munoz, but Keith Giffen is the biggest Munoz clone out there, to the extent it killed his career.

>Companies like IDW are digging up old IPs like GI JOE or Transformers to destroy.
I just read the new Transformers #1. Page one features a new Transformer who is trying to figure out it's alt-mode (ie. sexuality, gender identity, etc).
I'm out, guys.
I'm fucking done. It's been a swell ride, but comics are finally dead to me. All of my escapes from the misery that is life are being systematically destroyed by faggots and harpies who don't actually care about anything but wrecking everyone else's fun, and I've had enough. There's only one thing left they can't rub their shit into, and I'm going for it.
I'm taking refuge in the past, and I invite you all to join me. Older movies, older sitcoms, older comics, older vidya. Star Wars? Ended with either Return of the Jedi or Revenge of the Sith, depending on your preference. Star Trek? Closed canon as of Star Trek Nemesis. MCU? Eventually there will be a corrected version of Avengers: Endgame that's been edited to remove Cuntpain Marvel… and that's where it ends.
Marvel and DC? Terrorists flew planes into their offices the day DC was planning the New 52 and Marvel was perpetrating One More Day.
We do not HAVE to accept anything as canon, guys. No cunty chick as Doctor Who, no lowland ape as Jimmy Olson, no fucking Idris Elba as ANYTHING white. Nothing. WE make the rules from now on and they won't see dollar one from me, anymore.

Comic and movie companies care so little for continuity/canon anyway so might as well just dictate how canon works based on personal preference at this point.

Toth wasn't the first. Style using those flat panels of black and white was not that uncommon back in the day. I have seen random pages using it that predated Toth, and from what I have seen that style was always present in Italian comics. However, Miller obviously 'borrowed' quite a bit from Toth. Unfortunately Miller's art did not stay that way, and mutated into blocky and angular abominations.
