ITT: we share ideas for a film reboot of Superman.

Don't.

Let capeshit cinema die so normalfags stop shitting comics up with garbage and appropriating nerd culture.

That's the state of the franchise right now.

I'd be excited to see the movie that Man of Steel avoided becoming: Clark Kent, having discovered he's a superpowered alien, leaves his parents' farm and travels the world, taking odd jobs and helping out where he can, forced to move on whenever his powers are exposed (which they inevitably are as he always chooses to save those in need.) Meanwhile, ace reporter Lois Lane is following the leads on this urban myth of a "Super Man".

For the exciting few minutes that Man of Steel followed this premise, it seemed like an idea full of potential that would make an amazing (and different, and more "down to earth") Superman movie, before the film changed its mind and turned back to utter shit.

How about you come up with something original instead of feeding off the originally of others.

Focus a little less on the villain and make a gradual transition to Kal-El discovering more of himself and taking steps to become Superman.

My problem with Man of Steel is it didnt take any time to let him grow into his role and have him save anyone or stop criminals. I get Superman is someone on the global stage but I think its important to show him helping out in the little ways in the suit with petty crime and disasters before throwing world ending threats at him with no character growth beforehand.

Also, I think I wouldve preferred if becoming Superman was more of his own decision rather than thrusting it on him, or at least, show him doing something with the role after the fact.

Make him competent and proactive.

Dude basically blindly stumbled around and occasionally got lucky while other people told him what to do. Batman v. Superman took this one step further and basically made him a bitch for Batman, which I know is par for the course for DC and Snyder basically hates Superman but seriously, at some point they have to start treating Supes with respect.

Also, fuck off with General Zod and Lois Lane. Use Brainiac instead or even Mongul. And since they wanted so badly to ape Batman Begins, they should've just used Lana Lang instead of Lois, so they could start setting up their romance from childhood. And write the Kents properly. Smallville did the whole "parents afraid that their super-powered kid will be discovered" deal without turning Pa into a socipath.

And really, have someone proofread the fucking script. Man of Steel was so full of stupid plotholes and cringy dialogue (anytime that Pa or Ma start to talk to kid/teenage Clark and after eight seconds the dialogue starts sounding like "made for trailer profoundness" are good examples) that it was painful to watch at parts. Half the problems with the movie could be fixed by doing that.

Also, what the fuck happened to Zack Snyder's action directing? He's not amazing at it or anything but his DC movies have some of the most insanely boring action I've ever seen, a far cry from his usual fare.

Okay

>movie starts off with Clark Kent attending Smallville high-school

>get to know Clark and his developing powers

>after he does something incredible and heroic, like saving a bus full of kids

>Clark's face wasn't seen during the heroic act, but he was wearing a Smallville Highschool shirt or something, consisting of a big shielded S like in Superman's first appearance, leading people to call the mysterious savior "Superman".

>He seeks advice from his Pa who decides to tell him the truth

>go to the barn, space-ship revealed

>Pa Kent tells Clark how he was found in that ship and hands him a strange box ala Superman the Animated Series

>box shows Clark a vision of Krypton, with his father Jor-El explaining everything

>we experience Krypton through Clark's eyes

From there we go onto a Superman movie with a simple theme, something to base the movie around. Kryptonian heritage vs. adopted home, power used responsibly vs. wantonly, embracing your nature vs fighting against it, etc.

But really, anything would be better than the mess that was Man of Steel.

>>1029829

>start like Man of Steel but shorten the Krypton scene

>give his foster father a death he can't stop with his powers, like a heart attack, not some retarded shit like in the movie. That's deep.

>if you give Lois screentime, make her competent

>a villain like Zod doesn't need a dragged out, boring, overused plot to destroy the world; he's destructive enough on his own. Don't drag the movie.

>a good, dignified Lex Luthor. Put focus on his motivation.

>if not Zod as a villain, then Luthor-Brainac - the movie showed you Krypton and Luthor, so you care for both. Superman basically fights something he knows from home and cuts the last connection to it.

>not a dragged out scene where Superman saves people once he's Superman, but a montage and people celebrating.

>Superman knowing more than just the emotions neutral, smug and raging maniac. Make him nice. Make him someone you want to protect you. Not someone you worry will kill you while saving you.

>Superman caring for earth, seeing beauty in it. Maybe comparing it to Krypton. Make him more like Son Goku, getting pissed when the planet gets wasted.

>Superman regretting the colleteral damage in the same movie as he cause it.

>after credits scene has Superman run into a Meta while saving people, who shows up at the same time. I'd say Aquaman, because a ship is lost in a storm or something.

There. I just rewrote Man of Steel and at the same time a Justice League pilot. Give me a million and all your cocaine, Hollywood.

Oh and also:

>making Superman realize the extend of his power

>but then putting Superman in a scenario he can't prevent, seeing the failure in humans but also his limits, preventing all that god-comparison shit. The point is to turn him into something human, not a solution for a conflict thats built up for 2 hours.

I mean seriously, Superman struggles against Zod, dies against Doomsday but 1 hit defeats Steppenwolf who, if the scene wouldn't have been cut out, would have been teased since Batman v Superman. Most Marvel villains may be shit, but at least they were a threat.

 No.1030214

They are absolutely incapable of understanding the appeal of a boy scout doing the right thing, for the right reasons.

So, honestly, they would be better off doing a Superboy story, either going full Legion of Super-Heroes, or New Gods completely away from Earth. Actually be inspired by the original Star Wars trilogy, where you embrace an epic adventure, but with hope, and fun.

If Pa Kent were to die, I would prefer it to be a death that makes Clark realize how precious and fragile human life, inspiring him to become the Superman we all know.

>Pa Kent and Clark are having a chat in the truck on their way into town

>Clark sees in slow-motion a car about to t-bone them

>It's too late

>There's a devastating car wreck

>Clark is completely unharmed, the metal bent around his invincible body

>Pa Kent is mortally wounded

>As Clark watches his father die, Pa Kent uses his last breaths to tell Clark to use his powers for good

>In that moment, Clark realizes he's an invincible man in a world where everyone he knows and loves can die from anything

>This motivates him to dedicating his life to saving others and protecting the world

And boom, Superman has characterization.

Ehh, I kinda prefer if Pa Kent dies of natural causes, if he dies at all. Tragedy is overrated and I feel like thatd just be Uncle Ben all over again. I liked the idea of Superman's family being alive in Superman: TAS.

 No.1030336

I'd honestly would like the pure, boy scout, lighthearted Superman in a modern, cynical world. It would be be interesting to see not only the contrast between the two but also how hard it is to be great in a world constantly going to shit. Also have him struggle with the constant god comparisons people keeping making of him. Superman may be powerful, but he's no god.

An older Superman comes to terms with outliving his human friends, having isolated himself at the Kent farm after Lois died, and given up superhero-ing. The new wave of superheroes that replace him, such as Magog, are violent, amoral and do not care about the collateral damage they cause. After finally being convinced of the severity of the situation by his pastor after talking at length after church, Superman reluctantly comes out of hiding, breaking up petty superhero squabbles. After getting into a few fights, he once again comes to the mindset that exerting his power to force the heroes into line is not the way to go. He flies more and more sparingly also, choosing instead to walk in full costume, and briefly visits the Daily Planet building. Just looking at the exterior and looking sad. At the end of the movie, Magog picks a fight with a supervillain, injuring innocent bystanders in his fits of rage and desparation to attack the villain, who he eventually kills. Superman does what he can to move people out of harm's way but never attacks. In the end, Magog just breaks down in tears and Superman hugs him. The movie ends with Magog becoming a more hopeful hero and finding his own Lois Lane. Superman goes back to the farm and gets a dog that he calls Krypto.

 No.1030405

I don't know exactly what I'd do, but I know that the big action climax would be Superman trapped in a machine/magic spell that makes someone live out every possible negative rendition of every scenario a person can imagine or something like that until the person gives up and dies of depression/heartbreak or something, but have the spell/machine break as it runs out of versions of reality where shit goes wrong, and Superman still hasn't lost hope throughout all of it. Then, make the big action sequence a giant cathartic "fuck you" to the bad guy as Superman tears the bad guy's minions and war machines to ribbons while a old school classical heroes theme plays.

People always try and make the big slugfest into the climax of a superman story, but that's worthless. Superman isn't like Batman or Punisher, where the emotional core of the hero lies in his determination to keep on ticking even though he's bloody and bruised. You need to set up situations where his boundless optimism is his strength, and not his determination.

Zac snyder directs it

Its called "The Superman"

Superman kills criminals, the bad guy is a flat, boring, butchered martian manhunter who wants to destroy earth for a stupid reason and looks human for no reason. Also his mammy dies. Everything else is an incoherant jumble of plot threads, including a green lantern that appears and says one line

What is it with "Superman fans" and wanting Supes to be a loser cuck who gives up on superheroing after losing Lois Lame?

It's like you faggots WANT people to think that Superman is lame and won't hold steadfast in the face of the greatest trials.
