Is it just me or do all these DC events just feel more and more like bad fan fiction? Like they're not even memorable beyond some design choices for event only costumes. But the actual events and writing just feels so unimpressive. I read through Dark Knight Metal and so much was happening but the main story was only 6 issues with nothing but call backs to so many fucking books that it takes a whole day to read through half of what you need just to get the references in the story or how the characters got where they are. Then there's the fact there's so much going on that it leaves you no time to really have a good cohesive story. It's just hitting all these beats without doing something good with the ideas they have.

No Justice was a 4 issue series, lasting a month, and was mostly set up for stuff in other runs. Can it really be called an event?

I liked Metal but mostly because I liked the alternate Batman designs. Actually what hooked me was Riccardo Federici's art in Batman: Murder Machine.

It's time for you to stop reading capeshit comics.

 No.1024355

I'd love to read Dark Nights Metal, actually.

Are the big two still doing universe-ending events every 6 months? We used to storytime / mock / bitch about them, but I haven't seen anything lately. Have the events stopped or have the majority of readers just stopped caring, even to complain?

 No.1024508

How many non-crisis events did DC do before the modern era anyways? I can't think of any.

Same I might just story time the whole thing too. I really only read the one shots which were good

They've hardly been doing events on the scale of some of the classics.

To argue that No Justice or Metal/Dark Nights are on the same scale as, say, Knightfall, No Man's Land, Zero Hour etc is disingenuous.

What is being shown in the OP is more crossover stories that let more runs crossover. Off the top of my head, there was the Night of the Monster Men arc from early Rebirth that had all the Batfamily lines tie into each other, but it was only 1 or 2 issues from each run, so sure it's 12 issues or whatever, but hardly an event and more just an entry point to other runs you'd otherwise not be reading.

Yeah thats what I want, just read the backstories of each evil Batman (except Man who Laughs, that was already storytimed here).

And after researching covers from a comic cover thread (before interesting, artistic threads weren't considered Leddit threads from total retards which shouldn't be posted unlike all those shitty scared white male pussy threads) I'm interested in reading Venomverse, too.

Most of the events these days are smaller crossovers. It still runs the usual problem of (((events))) by fucking up peoples' runs, but they aren't big enough to change any status quos. So nobody really cares.

>scared white male pussy threads

What?

 No.1024669

>>1024341

Well that's a shame, because the idea that another event was happening made me immediately quit reading DC comics because I didn't want to put in the effort.

The only big arcs since Rebirth started have been The Button/Doomsday Clock, which is just more Rebirth, and the Dark Nights/Metal universe crossover, which introduced a bunch of new heroes and villains with more abstract powers, but those are looking shaky aside from 2 of the titles, so probably not even worth going into them and just staying with the collected issues.

Actually, the New Age of Heroes line reminds me of that terrible line they tried in the early 2000s where those not-Xenomorphs came to Earth and gave people superpowers after they used them as hosts. I can't even remember the name of the arc or any of the spin off characters, it must have been that bad that I've cleansed it from memory.

Are you going to storytime or what?

Bloodstorm? Bloodlines? Something like that.

Bloodlines, which Anima, Blood Pack, and Hitman spun out of. I think there was even a miniseries reboot that came out in the early days of Rebirth.
