>Rising director Terence Nance is in advanced negotiations to direct Lebron James in Warner Bros “Space Jam 2,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.
>Nance is an executive producer on HBO’s late-night series “Random Acts of Flyness,” which premieres this weekend and has received an order for six half-hour episodes. “The Fast and the Furious” director Justin Lin was previously in talks to direct. Andrew Dodge (“Bad Words”) wrote the script. Charlie Ebersol developed a previous iteration of the project and is expected to be involved in some kind of producing capacity should the sequel move forward.
>James signed a production deal with Warner Bros. and “Space Jam 2” is being developed with the new Los Angeles Laker forward in mind, though he’ll need to approve the script before officially signing on to star. Other basketball players are expected to cameo, though it’s currently unclear whether Bill Murray will return.
>Michael Jordan starred with Murray in the original “Space Jam,” which grossed $230 million worldwide. The Chicago Bulls guard led a team of Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny, against a squad of giant aliens.
>Nance is repped by UTA. He is an artist, musician and director from Dallas best known for his feature film “An Oversimplification of Her Beauty,” which premiered as part of the New Frontier section at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012. Nance has previously directed short films including “They Charge for the Sun,” “Swimming in Your Skin Again,” and “18 Black Girls/Boys Ages 1-18 Who Have Arrived at the Singularity and Are Thus Spiritual Machines: $X in an Edition of $97 Quadrillion.”
