Sounds promising. Give me a Hunchback of Notre Dame style burning of the kingdom and you got me hooked. I thought this spin off would be cash in rip off tier trash looking to bring in the money from gullible kids slice of life style but if there's an actual plot I might get into it just for the sake of it.

Anything can be good, it just depends on how much the people in charge care about doing a good job. I've seen a lot of behind the scenes stuff for animated adaptations and cash grabs. A lot of the stuff that ended up popular is just because the people working on it didn't scoff at the fact they were working on something they thought was silly. They took the chance to make something that was theirs and took pride in what they did.

Of course, being from a western cartoon you have to wonder if they just stumbled on all these good traits and don’t just view the character as an unlikable bad guy.

What conflicting feels. If nothing else it does make the scenes with Varian pretty damn tragic though considering you know where he ends up.

I can't take these characters seriously because the eyes are huge and there's too much coloring on the nose and cheeks. Varian looks fine in >>1010588 but in color everyone looks like pixie dolls. Is this what happens when Disney's modern CGI style gets made into 2d?

Just finished. I agree with the other anons, if I had not spoiled it, I would not have seen the Varian Plot Twist coming in his first few episodes. I do like him as a villain though. Hes not quite Nox levels of awesome villain, but hes pretty comparable.

Overall, show was pretty good actually. Never would have guessed it knowing that it comes as a spinoff to a Disney Channel original movie spinoff. I actually really grew to like the art by the end of it, maybe simply for its novelty in today's era of cartoons.

Most of the filler episodes are pretty decent. The characters are pretty consistent, and you can tell a lot of people had fun making the show. It falls back on tropes with the king and the comedy relief characters too many times, but its not bad.

I might write up episode reviews after I eat breakfast.
