You gotta do something about these summer fags, you can smell their 'new' from a mile away. Crossboarding with cuckchan while admitting it with pride, never archiving links, making shitty threads, reddit spacing and not hooktubing, can you believe this.

>Crossboarding with cuckchan

That should be an instant perma-ban.

 No.1009679

Imageboards have been going dowhill for years. 4ch went to the pits back no later than when moot betrayed his online community for a cunt who cucked him. 8ch, once a refuge, is compromised (see /v/ and pol).

Let's face it. The era of the imageboard passed. The reddigoon rules now.

We've had an influx of shit-posters lately and I wanted to remind everyone there's never one shit poster, but usually different IPs shitposting.

>>1009673

Because I wasn't comfortable with three pinned threads being the first things you see on the board, and it seemed like the Ditko thread was producing enough content to stay on the front page.

>>1009676

Well, one-post willys, I don't think those issues require mod intervention. If you see a thread or comment you don't like, hide it.

>If you see a thread or comment you don't like, hide it.

You know that'll never work, these people are attention whores and will do anything and I mean anything to spite others. What works is mockery and shitting on them like the filthy faggots they are.

>Just ignore it guys what's the worst that could happen

No offense, but ignoring the problem doesn't make it stop. Having an influx of people come in with an obviously incompatible culture to ours is just going to change to scene, and for the worse. I mean, look what happened to comics in general after quality control stopped. I don't want the place where I complain about comics going down the tubes too.

I understand this being a hard issue, because setting some sort of standard to isolate the vague concept of 'newness' would probably end up being tyrannical. But I think overly egregious things, like halfchan template threads and crossposting shouldn't be allowed. This place is supposed to be an exodus from the billowing mass of shit that swallowed halfchan, and when people from that place come here, they drag their mud in with them. Letting the refugees spread their disease at whim is just going to get us all sick, whether we ignore it or not. They have to learn better.

Kirby's anniversary is coming up on August. Would storytiming his works around that time be considered spam?

I saw New Gods and OMAC get some love last year, and I plan on storytiming Kamandi.

Be the change you want to see. If there's a thread that you think isn't up to snuff, try steering the discussion to something on topic that you want to discuss, or just enforce "lurkmoar faggot". They're not going to assimilate if all you do is bitch about their lack of etiquette.

>>1009683

We've never sticked icup stuff before and I don't see us starting now. Checking the other boards, it looks like they don't have stickies for it either, so it's "sorry, friendo".

>>1009685

I'll agree that the era of the imageboard is over, but I won't agree that we should roll over and die to let faggots and goons and faggoty goons overtake us. We still have the power to push back and maintain some sliver of quality and decorum.

>>1009667

>>1009681

I don't envy the position you're in. Trying to keep track of and deal with shitposters is not easy. Can't be getting any easier with phoneposting and e-celebs advertising cheap, retard-friendly VPN services.

However, that doesn't mean I don't think you can do better. In the future, spend less time deleting entire threads of scouring out half the posts in a thread because the conversation got derailed or some people started bickering. Learn to ban cancer, not simply the people arguing more loudly or more aggressively. If people want to discuss something, you let them, and if the thread dies from inactivity, that's fine too. The only time to step in is when you have a dozen threads all bickering about the same shit, like /co/ was getting about a year ago when some faggots insisted on bringing /pol/ up in every thread just to start arguments and harvest (you)s.

This is more of a personal preference, but sometimes, I think it's better to let a shitposting faggot get collectively bullied by everyone who wants to stop by. Shutting down the argument before it can start, or nuking a thread once things start looking a little messy just punishes everyone else. The faggot(s) causing the problems get to feel justified, and the problem will persist..

Because the real goal isn't really just to keep people out. We can't do that. It's just not possible. Bans aren't even an effective means of punishment. The actual goal is the condition users to post in a manner that is constructive and fun, which will spur activity and conversation. Oldfag or newfag doesn't matter if the oldfag is a spastic retard and the newfag is here to have an honest and sincere conversation about something. So the ultimate aim here is to train the correct behaviors into people.. and sometimes, you can only do that by letting all the regulars flex their e-peen and then use it to slap around some dumb faggot who doesn't know that their brand of dumb facebook/reddit bullshit isn't welcome here and will be constantly mocked on sight.

>If there's a thread that you think isn't up to snuff, try steering the discussion to something on topic that you want to discuss,

Sorry to break it to you vol, there are just some things that aren't worth saving. Like obvious tumblr threads, template threads, shilling threads, eceleb threads, /tv/ threads, reddit tash, etc…..

Better to lynch them before they devolve into chimping.

Report a board volunteer?

 No.1009718

>>1009713

It's not unthinkable. I'm just saying that people who have been on imageboards for a long time are not necessarily all quality posters. We've got oldfags from /intl/ and /tv/ who have been trying to turn every board into a chaotic shitfest for years, after all.

>>1009715

Turning bad threads into something fun by shitting all over them is about the only thing you can do besides deleting them.

You sound like the kind of retards on /v/ that think that derailing a kill la kill videogame thread into an anime general is acceptable.

>>1009708

Just for the love of god ban faggots that are necrobumping or are obviously samefagging dead threads, it just fills the catalogue up with some of the biggest piles of shit, you cannot salvage a dead discussion that's been done and over with. So please ban faggots who necrobump.

They're SA goon scum that are old boomer lurkers that just learned how to use an imageboard a few years ago and they can't just use /b/ because they're immune to their cancer because they already got aids.

Derailing a thread is not staying on topic.

 No.1009805

>They're not going to assimilate if all you do is bitch about their lack of etiquette.

So you're saying I should ask the help of someone with a higher authority to take action, like a moderator?

 No.1009808

>>1009777

This, tbh.

Now if AT was the kind of show that actually had narrative payoffs for its arcs, the Jojoposters would be highly unwelcomed.

But since AT is not that kind of show, the board culture welcomed the Jojoposters. Not to mention that AT turning into Jojo generals just…kinda became board culture after a point.

 No.1009816

>>1009808

I didn't mind the derailing of the AT thread either, the show was dead and no one really cared anymore, but we can't just derail every thread that's shit in an attempt to salvage it.

Soon AT will end and there will only be threads about it asking what went wrong every other month probably.

 No.1009851

Unfortunately, I would like the mod to confirm if each of those are single individuals or not.

 No.1009957

 No.1011696

Nah, it'd probably be at the same frequency of what went wrong LoK threads.

 No.1019431

Why is anime and manga not considered /co/ material when they're nothing more than Japanese comics and cartoons? Devilman is a great comic series and I fail to see how it being from a country in Asia makes it any less of a comic book.
