This is but one of the side-effects of not choosing your words wisely.

I can't think of an example in which thoroughly investigating the premises and reasons behind every statement would give me a disadvantage. Case in point, this conversation.

I'm perfectly aware of this, because we have a motor that drives us in the opposite direction.

It's my belief that there is nothing inherently wrong with stagnation. Nor is progress inherently good. But with stagnation comes boredom, and with boredom comes progress. It is necessitated by the human condition. In a sense, we are forced to be open. We simply have no choice.

The point I'm trying to drive home is that if this was something we could change, I would, because it takes boredom out of the equation. Did I ever tell you how I am constantly deleting and updating my music library because songs I used to fall in love with get skipped like dogshit on the sidewalk, and did I ever tell you how frustrating it is to be reminded that the song I'm listening to and enjoying right now will mean absolutely nothing to me given some time, forcing me to find some new music to enjoy and toss like some one night stand? I'd go so far as to call it disrespectful to the artists.

Everybody complains about boredom all the time. I probably do it the most. But when I suggest that things would be better if boredom became impossible, suddenly I need to be more open.
