I knew what salary and expenses I was walking in to, as did all of my coworkers, and now the students who were relying on their finals to meet graduation requirements may very well have to settle for a GED thanks to my shitbird coworkers. I'm tempted to email my class roster and offer remote web cam classes because some of them genuinely need it, but I doubt the kids are seeing this as anything more than an unexpected second spring break.

but this place rewards the wrong behaviours. maybe people's baser insticts in general reward the wrong behaviours. lies, appeals based on falsehoods, trolling. we want distractions and entertainment. we like the feeling of having answers over having the correct answers.
haven't been depressed in a long while. some part of me that can take a step back and appreciate how long it's been since I've felt under-aroused instead of over-aroused. it's not where I want to be, but I don't want to use any of the easy escapes (drugs, distractions) to get away. I know it's irrational to be here in the first place, and my baseline for arousal has been modified by caffeine and exercise, and its absence is probably why I'm feeling this way now and not other times, and therefore irrational to think something needs to 'click' in order to get out of it. but I keep that possibility open, because in the absence of knowing the truth and the right way to do things, a convincing lie has a lot of power.
