Well, I don't subscribe to the meme that you need to be intelligent to understand R&M.

I am intelligent, and I know that the show is fairly simple but has a lot of easter eggs for the type of dirtlicker fans who need to turn over evey rock and doormat; I am satisfied with the first viewing of the episodes and don't need to go back to look for more.

Darling in the Frankxx is so far completely straightforward aside from the council of shadowy figures, the relationships between the main characters and pairings are laid out very plainly within four episodes, despite a very obvious plot being set up in the background.

The only series that really made me re-watch to attempt to understand it was FLCL and particularly episode 4.

Thankfully there are enough clues throughout that series that some understanding can be attained through piecing together all of the clues.
