No thread for this? 4 episodes have already aired. Fun old school sci fi show complete with robot revolution and time travel shenanigans.

>The year is 2050. A young engineer named Derrida Yvain became famous thanks to his contribution to the development of the "Autonomous Machine DZ" at Rebuild, the manufacturing company founded by his father. One day, Derrida and his colleague Nathan discover a flaw in the DZs and try to warn their boss, but are ignored. Although Derrida and Nathan are aware of the danger, they reluctantly decide to put off taking any measures, and instead go to Nathan's daughter Mage's birthday party. The next day, after enjoying a peaceful day, Derrida and Nathan are suddenly attacked by unknown forces. At the end of the escape, Derrida falls into a cold sleep machine and 10 years later, he wakes up to a devastated world in the middle of a war. While Derrida is attacked by a group of out of control DZs, he almost gives up, but he recall's Nathan's last words.

>"Take care of Mage.'

>Despite the harsh fate that has fallen upon him, Derrida sets off to seek Mage.

How bad do they butcher the name Nathan since there's no th sound in Japanese. Is it Nessin?

Wasn't he supposed to go back in time at some point? You know, like they foreshadowed exposed in the first episode?

 No.58920

probably in ep 2 with spooky pocketwatch gadget

although wouldn't it have made more sense to give time travel pocketwatch to some operator and tell them to kill MC's dad (or the guy who made them into killbots) instead of salaryman researcher nogainz lanklet mc?

 No.58935

Is this better than The Girl who Leapt Through Time? Because that one sure sucked.

Episode 5 of this was just released. I thought we'd have to wait 'til November. Fuck yes.

Of course a time travel show will have logical problems with it. The true skill of a time travel show's writing is how it manages to make you focus on paradoxes that it explains in the show while preventing you from realizing smaller pradoxes in the background.

Seems like gov was also behind the machine rebellion, wasn't it?

 No.60696

>>60692

It does. Everyone was happy to have the machines rise up and eradicate the lower classes as long as they got rich off it. Pretty shallow story/theme tbh, but I'm in it for the characters, tone, and sci fi gimmicks.

 No.60702

>>60696

It has potential, depending on whether they can pull off some plot twist

>there is ANOTHER big bad guy, who hasn't been introduced yet

 No.60718

It was corrupt government officials in concert with greedy large corporations. The government gets to perpetually clamp down on the citizenry, and the corporation gets juicy government contracts until the end of time. Of course, any dumbass accountant could tell you that the result would be that nobody would be left to rule over and the tax money would dry up, so it's not a very good long-term strategy. But at this point, they can't just tell everyone "whoops, we fucked up!" and just walk away.

Anyone else watching this because of Yoshitoshi ABe's involvement in this? I really like his art, but in this show it doesn't seem too visible outside of a few still images.

I was interested in it when they announced it because of his involvement, so it's disappointing to hear that it's not very visible.

I'm watching it because I would literally suck a dick for a good sci fi anime and this is the closest we've gotten in some time.

anyone else feeling a little lost now that MC's "timetravelling" every other keyframe?

have any of the changes he made in the past seriously influenced the present or is that part of the gimmick?

he can revisit the past but the only changes he can make will not affect the big picture: he can't stop the robot uprising but he can prevent yuri from tripping and breaking her camera (which is already having effects on the story, but the present story, not the 'fixed' past)

>>62720

Don't worry it will totally make sense in the end :^)

 No.63017

The "I guess I'll just hop in this cryochamber" moment was probably the silliest in the show, but I've been enjoying it since then. It's just fun schlocky action sci fi with teched up cars and gadgets and an AI rebellion. Enjoying this more than I should be tbqh.

>but the only changes he can make will not affect the big picture

Yeah, that's weird. I guess he can enact changes, but only on smaller details. And maybe he could change the big picture, but only by piling up smaller changes.
