Of course a time travel show will have logical problems with it. The true skill of a time travel show's writing is how it manages to make you focus on paradoxes that it explains in the show while preventing you from realizing smaller pradoxes in the background.

It does. Everyone was happy to have the machines rise up and eradicate the lower classes as long as they got rich off it. Pretty shallow story/theme tbh, but I'm in it for the characters, tone, and sci fi gimmicks.

It was corrupt government officials in concert with greedy large corporations. The government gets to perpetually clamp down on the citizenry, and the corporation gets juicy government contracts until the end of time. Of course, any dumbass accountant could tell you that the result would be that nobody would be left to rule over and the tax money would dry up, so it's not a very good long-term strategy. But at this point, they can't just tell everyone "whoops, we fucked up!" and just walk away.

have any of the changes he made in the past seriously influenced the present or is that part of the gimmick?

he can revisit the past but the only changes he can make will not affect the big picture: he can't stop the robot uprising but he can prevent yuri from tripping and breaking her camera (which is already having effects on the story, but the present story, not the 'fixed' past)

The "I guess I'll just hop in this cryochamber" moment was probably the silliest in the show, but I've been enjoying it since then. It's just fun schlocky action sci fi with teched up cars and gadgets and an AI rebellion. Enjoying this more than I should be tbqh.
