Like it or not, powerups are a big part of anime. If it disturbs you admitting that you liked / ever liked shonen, maybe you can just post a powerup from some ironic shonens like Jojo.
Anyway, it's a big board and I'm used this mindset so I won't argue, but just filter thread and move on. Peace.

Or anything from Agiri's catalog of ninja jutsus.

Heh, I know. I'll just use my special skill to amplify my shit posting powers. Its not powering up though its totally different.

Powerups that are actually just the character using their power in a more precise or clever way are always the dopest. Deku realizing he can put 100% power into just his finger tip, or partial power over his entire body were some great examples. Even though it was pretty dumb in retrospect, I remember being hyped as fuck that Ichigo's bankai was just making his sword smaller because then he could do what he normally does but even better.

It's hero Academia. Main character is a normal kid gifted with literal Superman levels up strength, except his body isn't meant for it. In his first usage of it, he breaks is legs jumping in the air, and his arm decking a giant robot. First two season of it usually have him needing to cleverly use his power. though by this point in the story it's less of an issue as he can generally use the power to a degree in fights

Dragon Ball Z powerups honestly get me pumped up. The dub used to be on weekday morning TV, but since it's Australia I think the situation was that the episodes were on TV at least a few weeks after they came out in other countries. A little before when the Super Saiyan 3 transformation was shown for the first time, my older brother got a bunch of to-be-aired DBZ episodes from his friends and I was pretty stoked about seeing that transformation before the other kids in school did.

Don't know if megaman counts as an anime but thanks to it i am particularly fond of replacing body parts with better versions of themselves, also as to not go out of the thread theme maybe OP powers that have heavy consequences for using them liberally

I prefer power downs actually. More series need to have the MC start out at his strongest and slowly whittle away his power and force him to get creative using the slowly tattering might he once possessed.

I liked it. It had an interesting stylistic thing where people all spoke totally without emotion like they were all robots. Even the suicidal one.

Stands and Nen. They make for interesting fights that no other anime/manga could ever hope to replicate.

Serious question. What anime would you anons recommend with cool fighting powerups? I'm currently watching Hunter x Hunter, and while I'm still not that far in (just starting Yorknew arc I think) and the nen stuff so far isn't very interesting. Naruto is the best example I can think of - a wide variety of ninjutsu element combinations, bloodline powers, jinchuuriki shit, and alternative fighting styles like the 8 power gates.
So with that in mind, what would you recommend? Doesn't have to be shone, could be a 20 episode ultraviolent series.

There was a Cthulhu-monster in some girl's dream. And another girl had the power to go into photographs. And another spoke to cats. The main girl cut her hair early though and ruined the show, she could cast risotto and the main character had the gift of permanent memory so he could remember the pre-reset world.
