It was never going to be as good as the first season anyway. The reason why the first season became as popular as it was, was that people started watching it expecting either a shitty children's show or one of those 3D shitposting shows like GDGD Fairies (it was the latter for me) only for it to turn out to be a pretty amusing avdenture series with a seemingly darker lore behind it that you only got bits and pieces of every episode.
So Kemono Friends was never a series that should have gotten a sequel, regardless of who works on it. It's pretty obvious that the people behind this are top-tier jews just for coming up with the idea of milking out the series rather than just leaving it be one of the few interesting things that happened in this decade of anime. Which is why I'm glad it will flop anyway.

The thing I'd be more curious about is the demographics of the people disliking the video or commenting on Twitter. I do not know about Japan, but the West can be really protest-happy and even moreso when it involves corporate dickery or feeling that a corporation has slighted them. Are the large amounts of dislikes and negative comments really Japanese, or Westerners with a decent grasp of Japanese and such? Is the Japanese trying to be more accepting of the decision, or are they still in NoTatsukiNoTanoshi mode?
Either way, they've painted themselves into a corner and the only way they could get off would be to re-hire Tatsuki, but that would be the most unrealistic scenario, and I'm sure Kadokawa doesn't think that they'll do so much effort for just one franchise, they would consider it if it were the only thing keeping them afloat.

When i first tried to watch this show, i was hit hard with a headache one minute in because of just how bad the animation quality was. I did manage to watch it through a 2 part binge session when i sprained my ankle hard at work after torrenting the series. My ankle is still recovering from that (over a year now). It had to be 2 parts because half way through i could feel a headache setting in about halfway through the series.
That being said, i honestly believe that despite the physically painful quality of the style, it wouldn't have been better off any other way. MAYBE if they made it a bit smoother it would be fine, but part of the charm is how it lured you into a false sense of security through the series that everything is alright and nothing serious would happen until shit got fucking real. You try telling me that you would have never expected that giant cerulean if they did it in any other style that didnt make it look like a knock off of a nick jr. show.

The trailer looked fine compared to this. Compare how that YYZ isn't animating it, and despite the much lower budget, the clothes actually had folds and creases.
