Overall I really adore DitF. I know that's a minority opinion, and the show does have plenty of flaws, especially in the pacing. But I love the characters and came to really invest my emotions into their fates and the outcome of the world. Hiro and Zero Two especially. Everything else is just bits and pieces to me. The pacing is the hardest to ignore, but there are plot holes and asspulls that could have been handled much better. I still don't care.
It was no Evangelion, but I give it a personal 8/10 and will recommend it to friends. I'd totally watch a season 2 or OVA movie about reincarnated Hir0ni discovering who they were and fighting some new massive threat together.

I think that if you download the entire series and watch it at a fast pace, you're probably not going to enjoy it as much as the seasonal people do. That's one of the reasons why I hate the concept of seasonal airing. I have that with most seasonal shows really, it's my own fault for even bothering to look at what people are saying about it but it seems that most anime fans only really talk about currently airing stuff online so it feels like I can't escape from it. One of the more recent shows where I had such an experience was probably Sora yori mo Tooi Basho, it had amazing art but the story and characters were uninteresting and felt too melodramatic to me, I expected more of a typical CGDCT show. Yuru Camp was another one, that was just garbage. For now I've stopped watching new shows altogether and only watch stuff pre-2010 stuff from my backlog, not that there's anything even remotely interesting airing right now though. The only thing I might enjoy is the Non Non Biyori movie but I feel that the appeal of the TV series was that it was set in the country and it might lose its charm in a different setting.
The last seasonal show that I felt was truly as good as people said it was to me would be Flip Flappers, I'd really like something like that to air again.

Me personally I didn't notice that or at least don't remember it. I did watch it and all its sequels because I needed something to kill the time with at the time. I almost find it hard to believe that a show like that was hyped, it was pretty generic and the MC was a gay beta as usual in those type of comedy shows. The only reason why I kept watching was Nyaruko herself who I consider one of those good anime characters stuck in a bad show.

I just finished it. This show could have been great if they changed the pacing. We got 18 episodes of teen drama and then 6 episodes of lore dump, hardcore robot action, and quickly wrapping up everyone's individual storylines in the span of 5 minutes. The VIRM reveal should have been exactly halfway through the show, with more worldbuilding and a quick monster of the week interspersed with the teen drama parts. If they revealed earlier, the second half could have been more in-depth, taking time for cool battles and characters growing up.
Specific nitpicks:
1. They're complaining about the soil not growing anything because they've salted the earth, but what about the fucking beach episode that was packed full of vegetation and looked totally untouched by war (just abandoned)? It wasn't a non-canon throwaway episode because it contained a major plot point with Kokoro finding the book.
2. ONE tiny piece of hard science in an over the top nonsense world. Why did they bother showing that gravity slingshot maneuver on the screen? This is the type of world where the ships just travel in a straight line and don't give a fuck about physics. Which they proceeded to do immediately after that.
3. Not giving a hint of explanation of how 02's mind got trapped in Strelezia, or why her earthly body turned into a statue, or why that statue crumbled, or why the statue could still hear shit on earth just what the fuck even. Throw me a pseudo-science bone here. I'll believe anything, just give me SOMETHING.
4. the blue/red rockets on the space franxx are aesthetically retarded
