The Dirty Pair OVA series is only 10 episodes and it's a bit more polished than the TV version. The TV series is still worth a watch though.

Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo was also 10 eps

There are lots of OVAs shorter than 12 episodes. Pic related is only 7 but each episode about 50 minutes long.

Oh well. Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora. 6 episodes, it's a cute romance about a girl with an incurable disease, a boy in the same hospital becomes friends with her.

Most OVA miniseries wind up beneath the length of a full season (a few do cut it close, while some older ones like Votoms exceed a a season's worth of airtime), and can take even longer to come out in full. Though in a number of cases less episodes and more time to work on each means better animation quality).

Welp, I had to go check it, and you're right. I remember binge watching it back then, had the impression that it was much shorter. Probablyy because it's an incomprehensible mess in which it feels like nothing really happens along the overarching plot.

The anime ended at the best spot. The manga goes onto this ridiculous, lengthy arc about corporate leaders all drinking this one girls piss, but some dude likes her, and then it just drags for about as long as every other chapter combined. Remembering it is like a fever dream.

Sometimes less is better.

OVAs aside, Gundam Stargazer is interesting. It was only 4 fifteen minute long episodes and aired on the net, this was largely before net originals started taking off. It's still one of the stronger Gundam works, completely eclipsing the quality of Seed itself.

Black Rock Shooter was pretty cool. The anime is 8 episodes long +there's a 50-minute OVA.

If only the game hadn't been held back by the PSP's control limitations, it could have been a pretty good game.
