I was waiting for the other shoe to drop when she ate that inarizushi, though. With how much it stressed that ayakashi are dangerous, I was still a bit undecided on what kind of show this was going to be and was waiting in suspense for the bad shit to start. Even if it wasn't poisonous, it still could have put her in debt, monetary or otherwise, to the youkai. Or something along those lines. But then all was fine and she continued to have a pleasant chat. I knew then this was going to be a nice SoL shoujo.

Not pictured is the awful OP (godly song by Fhana though) that heavily reused animation from the first episode itself, all the way up till episode 6. The show was such dogshit that multiple animators working on it refused to be listed in the credits. And, of course, the most damning of all is that it was outright canceled at episode 10, leaving the fate of the entire series in jeopardy. It was that bad.
Even allowing for all that trainwreck, the source material itself was hot dogshit. The plot was absolutely retarded.

The following and final episode was actually back to normal animation quality. The production issues were apparent from the start however with it not having a proper OP until episode 6 as you noted. I am quite open to shoujo and have enjoyed several shoujo shows. What i meant by the Twilight comment was that it came across as the worst and most generic parts of shoujo. I've never enjoyed watching the female fantasy of being dominated by some bad boy man.
