Just finished all 306 chapters of Akagi, marking it as my 10th complete series, with One Poker and Tonegawa still in progress.

My rankings for the 8 I've read is

>Kurosawa

>Buraiden Gai

>Akagi (Washizu Mahjong)

>Kaiji (One Poker)

>Kaiji (17 Steps)

>Zero (Part 1)

>Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji

>Akagi (everything else)

>Tonegawa

>Kaiji (Three Asian Stepladder)

>Gambling Outcast Kaiji

>Zero (Part 2)

>Shin Kurosawa

What are your personal rankings?

Also, is Ten as good as everybody says? Read the first few chapters, and it feels a bit too light hearted and not as good as FKMT's other series.

I'll reply because every one in this shit board is too much focused on moeshit shonenshit shojoshit

Ten's last volumes are one of the best things you'll ever read

I'm going to give it a read. Most other manga I've reading are taking a while to update.

To be honest I never took it seriously because of the artstyle. When the anime was airing all I knew about it was due to memes being posted at the time.

I only watched the animes, but I'm a bit curious about the mamga.

I got the impression that Akagi is too OP and infallible, while Kaiji alternates between acting like an unbelievable moron and an omniscient genius depending on what the story requires. In the case of Kaiji it also didn't help that none of the gambles after the Espoir was as interesting as the restricted RPS, with the pachinko crap that took most of the second season being especially crap and dragged on far too long.

Are the mangas any better in terms of writing?

Exact same problems with the Kaiji anime. He falls for the most obvious fucking setups to get the story going and then has to pull off some miracle bullshit to win and goddamn fuck that pachinko bullshit. The suspense is fairly well done though when it gets it right.

Also, in the second season of Kaiji I found the outcomes easy to predict based on what the writing is hiding from you.

Whenever someone has a plan that's clearly explained, that plan will fail, but if it's made clear that they have a plan without revealing what the plan actually is, that plan will succeed.

That was especially blatant with the pachinko arc, since so much time is spent setting up a plan where you can't hear the character's voices or it cuts away just when they're about to explain something.
