So I finally finished this after it being on my plan to watch list ever since it started airing. I think a major issue with this show is that the second cour is when it gets good while the first cour just feels like annoying otaku fanservice trash like most modern anime. This probably had one of the worst first episodes I have ever seen and I was not suprised that I had dropped in the past due to it, the MC is an autistic cunt and only when he finally drops the chuuni act does it become watchable. Had they made the introductions of characters and such faster and mostly focused on the actual meat of the story I might have held it in higher regard.

Overall it was a good show although some of the MC's actions were questionable such as not explaining a situation to other characters after time-leaping when they could have helped him if they had known.

I wonder what connection this has to Chaos;Head, Robotics;Notes and Occult;Nine. I know that Braun's daughter appears in Robotics;Notes but aside from that I'm mostly clueless about the whole thing.

So what did you think of it? Is it overrated or not? Do you even consider it to be good or not?

Did you cry?

>what connection this has to Chaos;Head, Robotics;Notes and Occult;Nine

same universe, but their plots never intersect. the characters of each don't interact but they might have relatives of the characters in shows as a cameo for their hardcore fans.

>This probably had one of the worst first episodes I have ever seen and I was not suprised that I had dropped in the past due to it,

settings/exposition dumps are always a bore to watch but it does set up some necessary plot points for later on in the story which don't make sense at first

>the MC is an autistic cunt and only when he finally drops the chuuni act does it become watchable

this is common to all of the ; series, but some of them hold on to their 'tism for almost the entire series which makes it unwatchable

No, it wasn't THAT emotional. Especially when you know that he's going to make it anyway. It might have been emotional if he had actually failed to save Mayuri but that wasn't the case. I have to admit that his descent into madness due to constantly seeing it happen over and over again was very well done though and I did feel for the MC.

>some of them hold on to their 'tism for almost the entire series

Is this the case for Chaos;Head? I was planning on watching that soon.

I already tried out Occultic;Nine which was garbage so I hope that that one will be a bit more redeemable. At least the fact that it's almost a decade older means there'll be no shitty overuse of CG which will make it easier on the eyes.

the worst of the entire series, maybe of all time

O;9 at least had a story, C;H lacks even that with the additional burden of not a single likeable character and an autistic delusional MC.

That's too bad, it seemed pretty interesting based on the PV.

Don't bother with the adaptations for Chaos;Head or Chaos;Child. It gives a bad impression of the source material that's unwarranted. That said, Steins;Gate's visual novel is one of my favourites. The adaptation is solid, but I much prefer the source material.

Thanks for the advice, Satan-sama.

I've seen a lot of people online act like the VN is one of the greatest ever made but why does it exactly stand out so much from the adaption? Is it purely a thing of it being more fun and immersive due to yourself "being" the MC or are there large changes plotwise or details that were left out from the anime?

The anime adapts the core content, but there's a lot more to it, and that's just in the core plot. There's several alternate routes in the VN which obviously can't be adapted for plot reasons, each with radically different endings.

Well, I'm not really into VNs due to it mostly consisting of you pressing a button to read text with the only real interactivity being very rare choices to make and alternate endings. I might give it a try since in the case of this one it does seem interesting.

If you think of it more as a novel than a game to be played, it makes a lot more sense. If you prefer not to push the button a lot most also have auto-advance. I hope you enjoy it though.

I marathonned this anime with some friends and due to the sleep deprivation I can't remember the plot anymore. I know I enjoyed it though.

It's a sci-fi version of Re:Zero. :^)

My biggest issue is that when he tries to save a character whose entire personality is built around making her death really sad for a bunch of episode, it suddenly decides he CAN'T save them because it's ingrained in fate in this universe. That is some god damn fucking BULLSHIT that basically ruins the whole show. Time Travel is a genre of hard fucking science, and saying, "lol well its fate" is retarded. Rather than making him, as a lone individual, unable to keep her safe from a massive government conspiracy would be perfectly reasonable, even if he did time travel enough times to know basically everything that could happen. It would have made his inability to save her a lot more fucking dramatic, since as a human with the power of a god, would have been unable to save her from purely human elements. But no, instead she gets shoved in front of a train by a kid. They pulled the exact same kind of bullshit in Flashpoint Paradox and it was equally retarded in that. If you're going to do time travel, stick to the obvious fucking rules of time travel, don't make up shit that equates to magic.

Other than that and the slow start, it was good overall though.

>>15685

It's not simply "fate", though, her death is what makes the worldline what it is, which is why his goal is to reach the worldline where this isn't the case.

>don't make up shit that equates to magic

Well that's literally what the Steins;Gate thing is though, no one is supposed to keep their memories of other worldlines but he does just because he is the MC.

When watching those episodes I often thought that her clock not working was somehow related to her dying and that he would do something with the clock in an effort to save her but they didn't do that sadly. It would have been interesting if he had tried to throw it away or smash it resulting in Mayuri being mad at him due to it being a last memory of her grandmother and it then indeed fixing the issue of her dying but destroying their relationship.

https://qntm.org/models

Which model of time does Steins;Gate have again? I think it's Multiple History except we see things from perspective from the resulting timeline, not the original timeline. That is, the characters suddenly receive a message coming from a future which is now from their perspective inaccessible after that message was sent from the original timeline.

Like seeing a character from a doomed timeline jump into the alpha timeline in Homestuck.
